Today is World IBD Day. And I've been sitting with what to say.
Because the truth is, I've been living with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease since I was 8 years old.
Eight.
Before I knew what a nervous system was. Before I understood why my body felt like a battlefield. Before anyone told me that chronic illness and unprocessed stress live in the same zip code.
I just knew that my body hurt. A lot. And that no one could fully explain why.
What IBD taught me β the hard way β is that the body keeps the score.
Years of flares, of hiding it, of pushing through, of feeling betrayed by the body I lived in⦠that was also years of my nervous system screaming for something I didn't yet have language for.
Regulation. Safety. Presence. Healing at the root.
I didn't find wellness because it sounded nice.
I found it because I was desperate. Because conventional medicine kept me alive but didn't help me live. Because I needed tools that reached deeper than symptom management.
The breath work, the somatic work, the energy healing, the stillness β these weren't additions to my life.
They were the way back to it.
That 8-year-old girl who felt like her body was broken?
She's the reason Soul-Level Wellness exists.
She's the reason I believe so deeply that healing isn't just physical β it's nervous system, it's soul, it's the stories we carry in our cells.
She's the reason I will never teach from a textbook alone.
Today I'm honoring everyone walking the invisible road of IBD. The ones who look fine on the outside. The ones who have memorized every bathroom in every building. The ones who have had to cancel, reschedule, explain, hide, and grieve β over and over again.
You are not broken. Your body is not your enemy. And you deserve more than just managing.
