Improve your flexibility, mobility, and posture with these 6 powerful yoga stretches. These poses help release tight muscles, increase hip mobility, and reduce stiffness from long sitting hours. Save this routine and practice daily for a healthier, more mobile body.

1. Downward Facing Dog – Stretches the hamstrings, calves, shoulders, and spine while improving full-body flexibility and blood circulation.

2. Quad Stretch – Opens the front thighs and hip flexors, helping reduce tightness caused by sitting or intense workouts.

3. Pigeon Pose – Deeply stretches the hips and glutes, relieves lower back tension, and improves hip mobility.

4. Runner’s Lunge – Lengthens the hip flexors, hamstrings, and groin while improving balance and lower-body flexibility.

5. Easy Twist – Enhances spinal mobility, stretches the chest and hips, and helps improve posture and core activation.

6. Lizard Twist – Opens the hips, stretches the inner thighs, and increases rotational mobility in the spine and pelvis.

Practice slowly, breathe deeply, and never force the stretch.

Strengthen and support your knees naturally with these effective yoga poses! Each posture improves flexibility, stability, circulation, and muscle strength around the knee joints while reducing stiffness and discomfort.

1. Hero Pose (Virasana)
Improves knee flexibility, stretches thighs and ankles, and helps reduce stiffness in the joints.

2. Wide-Legged Forward Bend
Strengthens hamstrings, calves, and inner thighs while increasing blood flow around the knees.

3. Half Moon Pose
Builds balance and stability by activating the quadriceps, glutes, and knee-supporting muscles.

4. Lord of the Dance Pose
Enhances leg strength, coordination, and joint control while improving posture and balance.

5. Reclining Bound Angle Pose
Releases tension in hips and inner thighs, helping reduce pressure and tightness around the knees.

6. Reclining Hero Pose
Deeply stretches the quads and knee area, improving mobility and relieving stiffness after long sitting hours.

Practice gently and consistently for healthier, stronger knees.

**It is not only okay, but recommended to 'soften' or slightly bend your knees (in any pose) if your hamstrings are tight to prevent injury.

I have not touched on our Chakra system, our energy Centers, at all really and they are such an integral part of your yoga practice.

This chart offers illustrations of 'some' of the asanas (poses) that correlate with your Chakras. There are also essential oils that support keeping our Chakra aligned.

What does that mean? you may ask! A simple answer would look like 'when any or all of our Chakras are out of alignment we feel 'off' in some way we have a hard time to articulate.

IMO our yoga practice is so very important to keeping our Chakras in alignment and we know this works because of how much better we generally feel after a practice.

The essential oils add another layer in the mix and I will touch on this more in depth later.

Whether you're a beginner to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, all the work we do is to bring awareness to our 'mind/body' connection, and I know that sounds woowoo, but some of those woowoo things look like holistic wellness and bring homeostasis (balance) to our body.

I've been of the mindset for many years, 2 decades to be more concise, that anything I (we) can do to be proactive in our health, wellness and fitness to stave off dis-ease, disease, aging well, and being strong and healthy, is what I am going to do.

It is never too late to start taking better care of yourself!

On a personal note, I have a titanium plate and 8 screws in my cervical spine from a long ago car accident and I move with awareness and caution in any yoga sequence.

When exploring ways to work with the cervical always err on the side of safety first.

I've been teaching yoga over 17 years and have been a personal trainer for 20 years, specializing in women's health & fitness. So my neck doesn't slow me down much, but I am very mindful how and what I do, and I would want you to be safe too!

Strong wrists create a stronger foundation for yoga, workouts, and daily movement.

Try these simple wrist-strengthening drills regularly to improve grip strength, wrist mobility, joint stability, and reduce strain during poses like Plank, Downward Dog, and Handstands.

Daily Wrist Routine:

• Squeeze & Open – activates forearm muscles
• Pinch Exercise – improves finger and grip control
• Finger Taps – enhances coordination & mobility
• Palms Down/Up Tilts – strengthens wrists and increases flexibility

Consistency is the key a few minutes daily can make your wrists stronger and more resilient.

As a side note: these exercises are also beneficial if you have arthritis, carpal tunnel, or weakness.
