I showed up to CrossFit today fully planning to do the workout.
Then I checked in with my body.
My back had a different plan.
So instead of forcing it, I stretched, foam rolled, hopped on the bike, and called it an active recovery day.
A few years ago, I probably would’ve pushed through because that’s what was written on the whiteboard.
Now I know better.
One workout isn’t what makes you fitter.
Weeks, months, and years of consistent training do.
One thing I see a lot—especially in CrossFit—is the mindset that every workout has to be all-out, every day.
It doesn’t.
Some days are for pushing.
Some days are for scaling.
Some days are for moving well and recovering.
Even the best athletes in the world adjust their training. They know that staying healthy is what allows them to keep performing at a high level.
The goal isn’t to “win” today’s workout.
The goal is to keep showing up for the next one.
Train hard.
Recover well.
And remember... sometimes the smartest decision you make is the one that lets you train again tomorrow. 🩵
