part two.

Y'all. I have been staring at my phone for days trying to figure out how to even start this post. I told myself I wasn't going to make it a whole thing. But I also haven't been able to stop thinking about it and I need to put it somewhere before I combust. Because the person who just texted me is the same person who packed up every single thing he owned and walked out of my life while I was on a girls trip with my mom and sister. No goodbye, explanation, nothing. And when I tried to reach out he had already blocked me on everything. Every platform. Every number. Gone. Like five years meant absolutely nothing. Like I was nobody. That was a year and a half ago. And I have not heard a single word from him since. Until now.

Let me tell y'all about the five years first because you can't understand the "hey" without understanding what came before it.

I met him at a line dancing night. I was mid-step when I bumped into him and before I could even open my mouth to apologize this man laughed, grabbed my hand, spun me twice, and placed me exactly two feet to his left like I was always supposed to be there. And then just kept dancing.

Five years, y'all. Five years of someone who could actually see me, not the version of me I was in public... but me. He was spiritually in touch. He was patient with my attitude. He cooked. He was a gentleman. And we could laugh for hours about absolutely nothing and it never got old. It was a good relationship. Not perfect. But genuinely, consistently good. The kind of good that makes you stop bracing for things to fall apart because you start to actually believe they won't.

And then one day they did.
I went on a girls trip with my mom and my sister. Three days. I came home on a Tuesday. His things were gone. Not some of his things. Everything. Like he had planned it. Like he had looked at the calendar, picked his window, and moved his entire life out while I was dancing with my mom in another city completely unaware what I was coming home to.

I reached out. I swallowed every single thing I had and I tried. Texts. Calls. Everything. He disappeared. On all of it. Every platform. Every number. Gone. A year and a half of silence.
And then last week my phone goes off and an unknown number says "hey"...

So now you understand why the number wasn't saved. And now you understand why I typed "you have the wrong number".

He said "I call BS, can we talk?" And I have been leaving it on read and minding my business but I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious about what a person even says after something like that.

What do you think? Does he deserve a response?
What do I even say?

Okay so I need y'all's help with something.

Because I genuinely cannot decide if I should be petty or strategic right now and honestly with me those two things are not always different.

So. My phone goes off the other day. Unknown number. Which normally I don't even entertain because if I don't have your number saved there's usually a reason for that. But something told me to open it.
It just said hey. Just... hey. Like we're familiar or something. So I texted back and asked who it was.

It's my ex, y'all.

And before you say anything let me give you just enough context for right now because the full story deserves its own post and I am not emotionally prepared to type all of that today.

We were together for five years. FIVE. And one day he was just... gone. No fight. No warning. No conversation. No reason. He was just there and then he wasn't. And when I tell you I reached out, I reached out. I swallowed everything I had and I tried. And he disappeared. On everything. Like I was someone he'd never met.

So yeah. The number got deleted. Obviously. That was a year and a half ago. I want you to understand that I sat with that text for three days. I did not respond. I went about my life and minded my business. And then on day three something came over me. We can call it chaos, I'm still not sure. And I typed back very calmly... "You have the wrong number." And sent it. So he comes back with, "I call BS. Can we talk?" And I... giggled 🙄. Because it was so completely and totally HIM. He has always been one of the very few people who could see straight through me and just... call it. No games. Just, I see you, cut it out. I felt something shift a little and I did not appreciate it. So obviously I left that on read too. And that's where we are currently. Him on read...

Here's where I need y'all. Because a man who ghosted me on everything after five years with zero explanation just messaged like time is not a real thing. Should I respond? Or do I keep the wrong number energy going until one of us loses interest?

And while y'all debate that... next episode I'm going to tell you exactly who he is and why his name wasn't saved in my phone in the first place. Because that story? That story requires its own post 😌.
