It's Mental Health Month, so I thought we'd play a little game.

☑ Coffee before water

☑ Forgot lunch

☑ Ate standing up

☑ Opened the fridge three times hoping something new appeared

☑ Spent $60 on supplements and skipped breakfast

Be honest... how many squares did you get? 😅

I know this might sound surprising…

…but some people actually feel emotionally worse on extremely high-protein, low-carb diets.

Not because protein is “bad,” but because the brain needs balance too.

Serotonin production is more complicated than most wellness advice makes it seem. For some people, overly restrictive eating patterns can contribute to:
• obsessive thinking
• anxiety
• rigidity
• feeling emotionally flat

Sometimes the body doesn’t need more control.

Sometimes it needs nourishment and flexibility.

Mental health nutrition is rarely about perfection.

Sometimes the body is not fighting you.

Sometimes it’s asking for support.

I don’t think our bodies are problems to fight against.

I think they’re something we’ve been entrusted to care for.

Sometimes, symptoms are not character flaws.
Sometimes the body is simply overwhelmed.

I believe God gave us wisdom, tools, and understanding to care for ourselves well.

I don’t believe caring for the body means we trust God less.

I think stewardship matters.

Healing often begins when we stop fighting the body and start listening.

Sometimes symptoms deserve a deeper look.

There are things we routinely explore in mental health nutrition that many people are surprised to learn can affect mood, anxiety, energy, focus, and resilience.

The body is constantly communicating.

Your brain cannot make calm out of nothing.

Sometimes we blame ourselves for symptoms that may partly be physiological.

Your brain needs raw materials:
protein
magnesium
omega-3s
B vitamins
zinc

Your body cannot build what it does not have the ingredients to make.

Healing often begins when we stop fighting the body and start listening.

For the girls holding it together.

Some patterns stay in the body long after they’re needed.

Happy Mother’s Day to every woman learning that rest is safe too. 🤍

What’s one phrase you catch yourself saying when you’re overwhelmed?

Last weekend was really special.

I got to help facilitate a retreat where we focused on letting go of what the body can’t hold… and rebuilding what it needs.

What stood out most to me wasn’t the content.

It was watching people go from feeling alone in their struggles… to realizing they weren’t the only ones.

There’s something powerful that happens when you feel supported.

Things start to shift in a way that’s hard to create on your own.

If there’s one thing I’d share this Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s this:

You’re not meant to do this alone ❤️

A few days away teaching, reflecting, and creating space.

Sometimes the most meaningful progress happens when we step out of the noise.

POV: I fell ... but I saved the one thing keeping me calm.

Most people don't realize how much nutrient deficiencies can impact stress and anxiety .

Magnesium is one of the most common ones I see missing.
