Vacation didn't create the problem—it revealed what your routine was solving.

One of the most common things I hear from clients is:

"I was doing so well until vacation."

But often, vacation isn't the cause of the struggle.

It's the first time we notice how much support our daily routines were providing.

At home, many healthy decisions happen automatically. We eat at familiar times. We know what food is available. We have our routines around sleep, hydration, and movement.

Then vacation changes the environment.

Suddenly everything requires a conscious decision.

That's when we discover the value of the habits we rarely think about.

The most powerful health habits are often the ones we barely notice—until they're gone.

What routine or habit do you appreciate more after being away from home?

Vacation is supposed to leave you feeling refreshed.

So why do so many people come home feeling exhausted, irritable, and completely drained?

Often it's not the travel itself.

It's days of skipped meals, low protein, low fiber, dehydration, and grabbing whatever food is convenient.

Your brain travels with you.

This Southwest Quinoa Black Bean Salad is one of my favorite make-ahead meals for travel because it's simple, colorful, satisfying, and supports both mood and energy.

Comment TRAVEL, and I'll send you the recipe.

Vacation is supposed to feel relaxing.

But have you ever come home feeling exhausted, irritable, or like you need a vacation from your vacation?

You're not alone.

Many women spend so much energy planning, coordinating, travelling, and taking care of everyone else that their own needs become an afterthought.

Today's carousel looks at one simple mistake that can make vacations feel harder than they need to—and a few practical ways to support your brain while you're away.

Take a look and tell me if you've ever experienced this.

I filled four glasses with sugar this morning.

One contains the total amount of added sugar I recommend for an entire day.

The other three represent popular drinks and desserts being marketed this summer.

What surprised me wasn't the sugar content.

It was the messaging.

"Tastes Like Summer."
"Happy Tastes Good."
"Time for a Moment of Joy."

As a nutritionist, I understand why marketing works this way.

But I also think we need to be honest about what we're buying.

These products aren't being sold as sugar.

They're being sold as feelings.

And that changes the conversation completely.

Watch the video and tell me what you think.

One of the things we don’t talk about enough is how much “good stress” still asks of the nervous system.

Travel can be wonderful AND mentally exhausting at the same time.

Many women are carrying dozens of invisible responsibilities before the trip even starts:
the packing,
the meals,
the schedules,
the chargers,
the laundry,
the grocery timing,
the things no one else remembers.

That doesn’t mean you’re bad at relaxing.

It means transitions require energy — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Sometimes support during travel looks less like optimization…
and more like nourishment, hydration, steadiness, and gentleness.

It's Mental Health Month, so I thought we'd play a little game.

☑ Coffee before water

☑ Forgot lunch

☑ Ate standing up

☑ Opened the fridge three times hoping something new appeared

☑ Spent $60 on supplements and skipped breakfast

Be honest... how many squares did you get? 😅

I know this might sound surprising…

…but some people actually feel emotionally worse on extremely high-protein, low-carb diets.

Not because protein is “bad,” but because the brain needs balance too.

Serotonin production is more complicated than most wellness advice makes it seem. For some people, overly restrictive eating patterns can contribute to:
• obsessive thinking
• anxiety
• rigidity
• feeling emotionally flat

Sometimes the body doesn’t need more control.

Sometimes it needs nourishment and flexibility.

Mental health nutrition is rarely about perfection.

Sometimes the body is not fighting you.

Sometimes it’s asking for support.

I don’t think our bodies are problems to fight against.

I think they’re something we’ve been entrusted to care for.

Sometimes, symptoms are not character flaws.
Sometimes the body is simply overwhelmed.

I believe God gave us wisdom, tools, and understanding to care for ourselves well.

I don’t believe caring for the body means we trust God less.

I think stewardship matters.

Healing often begins when we stop fighting the body and start listening.

Sometimes symptoms deserve a deeper look.

There are things we routinely explore in mental health nutrition that many people are surprised to learn can affect mood, anxiety, energy, focus, and resilience.

The body is constantly communicating.
