This summer’s surge in food recalls highlights critical safety gaps across our food supply. From fresh produce to packaged staples, monitoring recall notices is essential to preventing severe foodborne illness.

How to Stay Protected

Track Alerts: Regularly review official USDA and FDA recall lists for items in your fridge and pantry.
Verify Identifiers: Inspect packaging for specific lot numbers, UPCs, and expiration dates flagged in safety warnings.
Take Action: Immediately discard suspect items or return them to the point of purchase. Do not consume or taste questionable food.

Staying proactive on food safety alerts is your best line of defense against preventable contamination.

💙 **A Life of Service. A Final Gift of Hope.**

We honor the life and service of Marion County Fire Rescue Paramedic Clifton “Cliff” Murphy, who passed away after suffering cardiac arrest.

Even after a career dedicated to helping others, his service did not end there. Through his family’s decision to donate his organs, Murphy’s legacy will continue by giving others the opportunity for life. Fellow first responders, family and friends honored him with an Honor Walk at AdventHealth Ocala.

Our thoughts are with his family, colleagues and the entire Marion County Fire Rescue community. Thank you for your service, Paramedic Murphy. **Rest easy. We’ll take it from here.** 🚑💙

🚨 **Measles cases are rising — and awareness matters.**

Parents and caregivers can help protect their families by:

💉 Making sure children are up to date on recommended MMR vaccinations
🤒 Knowing the symptoms — fever, cough, runny nose, red/watery eyes and a blotchy rash
📞 Contacting your pediatrician if you suspect exposure or have questions about vaccination
❤️ Helping protect infants and others in our communities who may be especially vulnerable

🚑 **When EMS resources are stretched, the impact is felt across the entire community.**

Methuen is considering a proposal that would charge care facilities for certain non-emergency lift-assist calls and increase ambulance rates by approximately **19%** to help address rising service costs.

But this conversation is about more than fees.

Every ambulance tied up on a non-emergency call may be unavailable when a neighbor is experiencing a heart attack, serious injury, or other life-threatening emergency. At the same time, nursing homes, caregivers, seniors, and vulnerable residents need reliable support when assistance is required.

The challenge is finding the right balance—protecting emergency resources without creating unnecessary barriers to care.

This is an important community conversation about **access, responsibility, sustainability, and ensuring the right resource responds to the right need at the right time.**

Methuen's proposal would charge care facilities for non-emergency lift assists and raise ambulance rates by about 19% to offset rising service costs
