CREATRIX-EMPRESS
During my sunset swim, Venus and Jupiter put on a beautiful dance in the western sky, appearing remarkably close together as twilight faded into darkness.
In honor of the stellar performance, and today’s Motherpeace Tarot pull, we enter the sacred circle of the round feminist cards… Where image becomes oracle and art becomes initiation when experiencing a CREATRIX Collage & Oracle session.
Today’s Empress is not merely a card, but a living tapestry of 30,000 years of women’s memory. Tarot names her Mother Earth and places her under the gentle sovereignty of Venus, reminding us that the planet herself is holy body.
The lush, rose-breathing woman at the center of the Motherpeace image stands in ancestral continuity with the Venus of Laussel, carved into stone in a sacred French cave, and the enthroned Queen-Priestess of Çatalhöyük, ancient Anatolia — the Land of the Mothers.
In the foreground, a plaque reveals Ceres, Roman bearer of grain and serpent wisdom, guardian of the first agricultural mysteries. Her mirror glimmers as a portal of remembrance, reflecting the unbroken lineage of priestess consciousness flowing through pre-patriarchal Afro-Eurasia.
So much her-story.
So much embodied memory.
An entire civilization of the Sacred Feminine, breathing within a single image.
THE HERSTORY OF THE IMAGES:
1) Veiled in the dawn of civilization, the Mother Goddess of Çatalhöyük emerges from the Anatolian earth, a 9,000-year-old testament to the sacred feminine's enduring power. Enthroned between two majestic felines, she embodies the fierce protection and abundance of the natural world, a nexus of fertility, strength, and spiritual awakening. Her timeless form whispers the ancient stories of life, birth, and the delicate balance of existence, a reminder of humanity's deep-seated reverence for the cycles of nature and the Great Mother's eternal presence.
2) Shrouded in the mists of time, the Venus of Laussel, a 25,000-year-old enigma, resides in the Bordeaux museum, France. In her hands, she crholds a bison horn, etched with thirteen lunar whispers, a testament to the ancient Pagan year's sacred rhythms. The "Venus" in her name echoes the whispers of a primordial goddess, a keeper of beauty, fertility, and love's sweet mysteries, whose sacred day is Friday.
3) Roman, Augustan period bas relief of Ceres (Demeter) or Proserpine (Persephone) rising from the ground with sheaves of wheat and poppies ...Persephone has come back from the Underworld. She is Demeter now, Goddess of grain, bringer of wealth.
