Looking through these photos, it’s hard not to picture yourself there.

Watching elephants move across the Masai Mara at sunrise. Standing quietly among Rwanda’s mountain gorillas. Sharing stories over dinner after a day that somehow felt both extraordinary and grounding all at once.

These moments were captured during our 2026 Kenya & Rwanda journey, and the good news is that this experience isn’t over.

Another Source Story, as we continue celebrating 25 years of Source Journeys.

For decades, there was one place George knew he needed to see: Abu Simbel. He had traveled to Egypt before and experienced many of its wonders, but this one destination remained unfinished. Years later, when Source Journeys announced Egypt, he immediately said yes.

For George, Abu Simbel was never simply another landmark. As a lifelong preservationist and champion of Miami Beach’s Art Deco District, he was deeply moved by the fact that the world had once come together to save this extraordinary temple, relocating it stone by stone so future generations could continue to stand before it in awe.

When he finally arrived, decades after first dreaming about it, it was more than a destination. It was the completion of a circle.

Stories like George’s remind us that some places call to us for years before we ever arrive. And sometimes, the greatest gift of travel is finally answering that call.

It’s difficult to describe what it’s like to sit just a few feet away from a family of mountain gorillas.

For an hour, our group watched them eat, play, rest, and interact with one another in their natural habitat. The experience is surprisingly peaceful. There is no performance. No rush. Just the privilege of observing one of the world’s most remarkable animals on their terms.

It’s one of those rare travel experiences that leaves an impression on everyone in a different way.

There are few experiences more iconic than a bush breakfast in the Masai Mara.

After a morning spent exploring one of Africa’s great wildlife destinations, our group gathered beneath the open sky to enjoy breakfast surrounded by the vast beauty of the savanna.

It’s a moment that feels distinctly safari. Exceptional wildlife, extraordinary landscapes, and the opportunity to pause and appreciate it all in remarkable company.
These are the experiences that define the journey. Not just seeing a destination, but experiencing it in a way that feels immersive, memorable, and deeply connected to the place itself.

Today’s experience on our Luxury Safaris in Kenya & Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda journey brought the group face to face with some of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife.

Standing eye to eye with a giraffe is a rare perspective, and one that never seems to lose its sense of wonder. Curious, graceful, and surprisingly gentle, these remarkable animals made quite an impression on our travelers.

Right now, our travelers are experiencing the first days of safari season in Kenya, and the Masai Mara is already delivering the kind of moments that are hard to put into words. Cheetahs moving through the brush. Rhinos warming themselves in the morning sun. Long conversations back at camp after a day out on the savanna.

Kenya has a way of changing your sense of scale. The landscapes feel endless, the wildlife feels impossibly close, and the pace of life becomes a little quieter, a little slower, a little more intentional.

And this is only the beginning of the journey. Next stop: Rwanda and the mountain gorillas.
