One of the most neurologically important regions in the entire spine…

Is the place where your skull meets your neck.

The occiput.

This area helps coordinate head movement, balance, posture, and how your brain interprets information from the rest of your body.

In fact, the upper cervical spine contains one of the highest concentrations of proprioceptors—specialized receptors that help your brain know where your body is in space.

When this area isn’t moving well…

The body adapts.

Muscles work harder.

Movement changes.

Compensation begins.

That’s why at New Leaf, we don’t just look at where symptoms show up.

We look at how the body is functioning.

Because the goal isn’t simply to feel better.

The goal is to function better.

Every adjustment has a purpose.

Every correction has a reason.

And every recommendation is based on your examination, imaging, and individual needs.

Not guesswork.

Not cookie-cutter care.

The body is incredibly intelligent.

When movement improves, function often follows.

And that’s what we’re after.

Function first. Always. 🚀

Most people see Joseph helping patients at New Leaf.

They don’t know the story that brought him here.

Before chiropractic…

Joseph was a wrestler.

A competitor.

An athlete who earned the opportunity to wrestle at the collegiate level in Oklahoma.

Then one match changed everything.

A shoulder injury left him facing a crossroads.

Accept the injury…

Or find another way.

He chose another way.

Chiropractic.

Rehab.

SoftWave.

And a commitment to helping his body recover naturally.

Months later, he was back doing what he loved.

Back on the mat.

Back competing.

Back to being himself.

But something unexpected happened.

That injury didn’t just change his shoulder.

It changed his future.

For the first time, he experienced what can happen when you focus on restoring function instead of simply masking symptoms.

And that experience sparked a passion.

A passion that’s now led him to become a chiropractic intern here at New Leaf.

Today, he’s learning how to help others the same way he was helped.

Because sometimes your biggest setback becomes your biggest purpose.

And sometimes the thing that changes your life becomes your life’s work.

We’re proud to have Joseph as part of the New Leaf family and excited to watch his journey continue. 💪

For 30 years…

Richard couldn’t bend the way he wanted to.

30 years.

Think about that.

30 years of adapting.

30 years of working around it.

30 years of accepting that pain was just part of life.

Like so many people, he thought:

“This is probably just how it’s going to be.”

But here’s the problem with that mindset:

The longer you live with a problem…

The more normal it feels.

Until one day you forget what normal is supposed to feel like.

That’s when Richard came to New Leaf.

We didn’t chase pain.

We looked at function.

What wasn’t moving correctly?

What had his body been compensating for all these years?

And what could be improved?

Two months later…

He’s bending.

Moving.

Living.

And most importantly…

Pain free.

His words?

👉 “New Leaf gave me a new life.”

Moments like this are why we do what we do.

Not because we love adjustments.

Because we love watching people get their lives back.

How long have you been putting up with that problem?

Months?

Years?

Decades?

Maybe it’s time to stop adapting and start addressing it.

Book today if you’re ready to find out what’s possible.

Most people think chiropractic is about pain.

It’s not.

Pain is usually the LAST thing to show up.

And often the first thing people focus on.

By the time your back hurts…

Your body has usually been compensating for weeks, months, or even years.

Moving differently.

Protecting itself.

Adapting.

The problem?

Adaptation isn’t always the same thing as function.

That’s why at New Leaf we don’t ask:

“Where does it hurt?”

We ask:

“Why is it hurting?”

What’s not moving correctly?

What is the body compensating for?

What stress has been building up beneath the surface?

Because when motion improves…

Function improves.

And when function improves…

Amazing things can happen.

People move better.

Sleep better.

Train better.

Work better.

Live better.

That’s the power of chiropractic.

Not chasing symptoms.

Restoring function.

If you’ve been ignoring that nagging issue because you think it’ll eventually go away…

How’s that working out?

Maybe it’s time to find out what’s really going on.

Comment “FUNCTION” and we’ll help point you in the right direction.

Eight months pregnant.

Still getting adjusted.

And no… not because something was wrong.

Because pregnancy changes everything.

Your posture changes.

Your center of gravity shifts.

Your ligaments loosen.

Your pelvis adapts.

And your body works incredibly hard to grow and deliver a healthy baby.

One of the biggest misconceptions about pregnancy is that discomfort is something moms simply have to accept.

Back pain.

Pelvic pain.

Sciatica.

Poor sleep.

“That’s just pregnancy.”

But just because something is common doesn’t mean it should be ignored.

Throughout all three of our pregnancies, Dr. Sherry made chiropractic care a priority.

Not because she was chasing symptoms.

Because she wanted her body functioning at its highest level during one of the most physically demanding seasons of life.

And we were blessed to have an incredible midwife by our side.

A special thank you to Sheila Watson and the team at Spirit of Life Midwifery.

Their experience, confidence, calmness, and genuine care helped create three beautiful birth experiences we’ll never forget.

Here’s what I love most about pregnancy care:

It’s not about treating disease.

It’s about supporting function.

Helping the body move better.

Adapt better.

And do what it was designed to do.

Because when mom is functioning better…

Everyone benefits.

If you’re pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or know someone who is…

Send this to them.

It may be one of the most important seasons to take care of your body.

❤️

Most dance injuries aren’t caused by dancing.

They’re caused by a lack of control.

Every week, we see talented young dancers dealing with:

• Ankle sprains
• Knee pain
• Low back pain

Not because they’re weak.

Because they’re asking their bodies to perform at an elite level without the stability to support it.

Here’s what parents need to understand:

Flexibility is not the same as stability.

And flexibility without strength is where many injuries begin.

That’s why the best dancers in the world don’t just train dance.

They train balance.

They train strength.

They train control.

In this video, I break down the 3 most common injuries I see in young dancers and exactly what you can do to help prevent them.

And if your child is already dealing with pain…

Please don’t ignore it.

Pain is often the last signal the body sends before performance starts to suffer.

At New Leaf, we help dancers restore mobility, improve movement quality, reduce stress on their joints, and keep doing what they love at the highest level possible.

Because a young dancer shouldn’t have to choose between chasing their dreams and living in pain.

Save this.

Send it to a dance parent.

And let’s keep these athletes healthy. 💃🏆

🚴‍♀️ When Reyna came to New Leaf after a bicycle accident, she was frustrated.

She had already tried traditional treatment and rehabilitation for her neck pain, cervical disc issues, and loss of mobility.

Yet she still wasn’t where she wanted to be.

Simple things like turning her head, moving comfortably, and getting through her day had become a constant reminder of the accident.

What stood out most wasn’t the pain.

It was how much of her life the injury had taken away.

After a thorough evaluation, our team created a personalized care plan focused on restoring movement, improving function, and addressing the underlying issues contributing to her symptoms.

Today, Reyna is moving better, feeling more confident, and continuing to make progress toward the activities that matter most to her.

Stories like hers are why we do what we do.

Because healthcare isn’t just about helping people feel different.

It’s about helping them get back to living.

“She’s too young to already be this tight.”

That’s what so many parents tell us.

Years of dancing.
Hours of training.
Constant repetition.

And eventually…

The tightness starts.
The hips ache.
The back stiffens.
The body starts compensating.

At a VERY young age.

Here’s what most people don’t realize:

Kids adapt FAST.

Especially active kids.

So when movement patterns, posture, stress, falls, training, and repetitive motion build up over time…

Their bodies adapt around it.

Sometimes beautifully.

Sometimes poorly.

That’s why chiropractic care changes as kids grow.

👶 Infants may be checked for things like tension, latching difficulty, or stress patterns from birth.

🧒 Toddlers and young children are adjusted VERY gently—often with small instruments and light techniques designed specifically for their bodies.

💃 Then come the athletes.

Dancers.
Gymnasts.
Cheerleaders.
Soccer players.

Kids asking more from their bodies than ever before.

And if they’re already tight, restricted, and compensating at a young age…

What do you think happens years later?

That’s why we love checking active kids early.

Not because they’re “broken.”

Because we want their bodies functioning at their highest level while they grow.

At New Leaf, care is NEVER one-size-fits-all.

Every adjustment.
Every recommendation.
Every plan.

Built specifically for the age, body, and needs of the child in front of us.

And honestly?

Watching kids move better, feel better, and light back up doing what they love…

Never gets old. ❤️

If your child is constantly tight, complaining of pain, or putting heavy demand on their body…

It may be time to get them checked.

Check out www.getnewleaf.com and let’s see if we can help your child perform and feel their best.
