⨠DIMENSIONAL LIFE GUIDE: THIS WEEKāS WELLNESS ACTIVITY ā STARGAZING! š
When was the last time you simply looked up?
This week, our Dimensional Life Guide invites you to try stargazingāthe simple practice of intentionally observing the night sky, from stars and constellations to planets, meteor showers and the moon.
And you donāt need expensive equipment. Stargazing can be as simple as finding a safe, dark place, spreading out a blanket, lying in the grass and looking up. If you want to take it further, try binoculars, a telescope, a star chart or an astronomy app.
š Stargazing happens all across the United States. National and state parks, observatories, astronomy clubs and designated Dark Sky locations offer everything from guided telescope viewing to star parties and meteor-shower events.
If youāre in Virginia or North Carolina, here are three places to put on your list:
ā Staunton River State Park, Virginia ā an International Dark Sky Park known for astronomy programs and its popular Staunton River Star Party.

ā Sky Meadows State Park, Virginia ā an International Dark Sky Park offering astronomy programs and opportunities to experience the night sky away from heavy light pollution.

ā Cape Lookout National Seashore, North Carolina ā recognized for its exceptionally dark skies and a beautiful coastal setting for viewing the stars. Check the National Park Service calendar for astronomy and night-sky programs.

š§ šæ But what does looking at the stars have to do with wellness? Quite a bit.
Stargazing can engage several dimensions of wellness at the same time.
Intellectual Wellness: Astronomy encourages curiosity, observation and learning. Identifying constellations, understanding planets and thinking about the scale of the universe gives our brains something very different to explore.
Environmental Wellness: Stargazing gets us outdoors and encourages awareness of our natural environmentāincluding something we often overlook: the nighttime environment and the effects of light pollution.
Emotional Wellness: Looking at an enormous night sky can create a sense of awe. Research on experiences of awe has associated greater daily awe with lower stress and greater well-being.
Physical Wellness: Depending on how you stargaze, your evening might include walking, hiking or simply spending intentional time outdoors away from screens and everyday distractions.
Sometimes enhancing our wellness doesnāt require adding another complicated task to our lives.
Sometimes we just need to look up. āØ
š YOUR DIMENSIONAL LIFE CHALLENGE: Spend a few minutes outside this week looking at the night sky. Learn the name of one constellation, identify a planetāor simply lie in the grass and take it all in.
