Your ancestors want connection, not perfection. 💙
This Juneteenth, I’m reflecting on Elukami (Indigo Fingers), a form of Black American body art and cultural expression honoring enslaved ancestors who harvested indigo dye throughout the American South during the 1700s. Known as “blue gold”, indigo was America’s second most valuable export after rice, built on the forced labor of West Africans.
I have family roots in Louisiana, so remembering these ancestors by dyeing my fingertips resonated with me.
But please understand that ancestral reverence doesn’t require a perfectly mapped family tree. You don’t need every answer. And you don’t need permission.
Freedom is not only something our ancestors fought for. It is something we practice.
By slowing down.
By listening.
By healing.
By returning to ourselves.
If this message resonates, I want to invite you to several opportunities this summer for us to practice together:
✨ Brick City Solstice | June 20
✨ Wednesday Classes at HealHaus Newark | starting June 24
✨ Rage, Release & Rebirth | June 27
✨ The Sacred Sit | July 5 and every first Sunday
✨ Rest Fest | July 12
And for those seeking deeper support, my Return to Self Membership is open. Together we explore breathwork, meditation, energy healing, spiritual practice, and the ongoing journey of coming home to ourselves.
Because healing isn’t about perfection either.
Comment “RETURN” and I’ll send you more information. 🖤
