Storytelling Garden at Allapattah Library The Storytelling Garden at the Allapattah Library is a winner of the Miami Foundation 2016 Public Spa

Winner of the Miami Foundation's 2016 Public Space Challenge. The Storytelling Garden will provide a platform for self-expression through storytelling. The space will feature a stage and a giant chalkboard where the public is invited to share thoughts, poetry, drawings and any other form of self-expression.

The landscaping for the Storytelling Garden was designed with the help of the , Brett Gabriel Simon and , and will be beautifully executed thanks to the volunteer support from and . All the plants and species being incorporated into the Storytelling Garden are either Florida native or friendly to our local ecosystem. We will be planting the following species: Dade County Pine, Silver Saw Palmetto, Coontie, Milkweed, Lantana Depressa, Scorpio Tail, Wild Coffee, Tropical Salvia and Wild Sage. Thank you

These are the awesome volunteers who joined us today. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

The goal of the Storytelling Garden is to create a cultural oasis for youth and adults to connect and express their cultural diversity by: (1) Building a collaborative space through the transformation of the Storytelling Garden (2) Offering a civic space for the youth in the area and surrounding communities, and (3) Promoting literacy and culture for our children. This collaborative platform improves community cohesiveness and ownership which empowers residents to create a safer and more enjoyable neighborhood.

On Jan 20, 2020, we began the 1st phase of the Storytelling Garden by cleaning the east facade of the Branch Library, which will be the home for a new interactive mural. Thanks to the seed funding support spark from the and the help of the , this amazing project is coming to fruition for the enjoyment of the Community.
