Our goal isn’t to eliminate big feelings.

It’s to help children develop the tools they need to navigate them with greater confidence and independence.

Play with a purpose. 🤍

Occupational therapy can look like games, movement, and everyday activities, but behind every moment is an opportunity to build skills for real life. From communication and emotional regulation to motor skills, flexibility, and independence, we meet each child where they are and help them grow from there.

Because no two kids need exactly the same thing and that’s the point.

Mealtime is doing a lot more than we give it credit for. 🤍

Before a child ever takes a bite, their body is already working—processing the smell, texture, temperature, color, and sounds around them, while also sitting upright, coordinating their hands, bringing food to their mouth, chewing, and swallowing.

So when a child is labeled a “picky eater,” sometimes there’s more going on than simply not liking a food.

Sensory processing, oral motor skills, posture, coordination, and regulation can all play a role in how eating feels.

When mealtimes are hard, we want to get curious about the why behind the behavior, not just focus on getting another bite in.

Pediatric occupational therapy goes far beyond handwriting and fine motor skills. OT looks at the everyday moments that are hard—getting dressed, tolerating certain sounds or textures, moving through transitions, regulating big emotions, eating, playing, participating at school, and becoming more independent.

The question isn’t simply, “Can my child do it?” It’s: Can they participate in the everyday activities they need and want to do without those moments consistently feeling overwhelming or out of reach?

That’s where OT can help. 🤍

If everyday routines are harder than you’d expect and are getting in the way of life at home, school, or in the community, it may be worth exploring pediatric OT.

Big feelings don’t need smaller boundaries. They need connection.

When a child is overwhelmed, their nervous system may not be ready for a lesson, consequence, or problem-solving conversation. Connection can help them feel safe enough to regulate and regulation creates space for learning.

That doesn’t mean ignoring unsafe or inappropriate behavior.

It can sound like:
❤️ “I can see how angry you are.”
✋ “I won’t let you hit.”
🤍 “I’m right here while your body calms down.”

Connect → Regulate → Correct.

Let’s bust some therapy myths.

There are a lot of misconceptions about was looks like.

The truth? Sometimes the simplest activities are helping build skills your child can use every single day.

We don’t want to erase the things that make a child unique.

We want to help them build a life where they can participate, connect, grow, and feel confident being exactly who they are.

The goal isn’t sameness.

It’s access. Independence. Connection. Self-advocacy. Belonging. 🤍
