Yes, pressure is effective in certain situations, but when you apply it too much, it breaks people down! Use it in moderation & when it is needed but back off when it’s doing more harm than good!

NEVER judge another person for the path or journey that they may be on. They are not you and they probably have different goals & objectives than you do.

Focus on your own path and your own journey because you are on your own timeline!

The most important thing you can do for others is to invest in & take care of yourself first. This may sound a bit selfish or contradictory, but if you don’t, you won’t be able to invest in, be present with, help, or take care of the people around you. It’s why on the airplanes they say before take-off to put on your own oxygen mask before helping someone else put on theirs in the case of an emergency. If you do, you will not only guarantee your own safety, but you will also greatly increase the likelihood that you will actually help the other person.

That being said, it is also important to accept help when you need it & it is being offered by someone who is able to & has the skills necessary to help you.

Quick tip for becoming more content with self:

Ask yourself, “How much more do I actually need (training, money, etc)? When does enough actually become “enough? Are my goals aligned with my values or the values of somebody else?

PERSONAL rule of thumb for exercise adherence in the long term:

Do at least one form of exercise per day (it can be going on a run, a heavy weight session, etc). If you have the time & ability to do so, this can exceed once per day, and if you are training for something (like a competitive race), that is often a different story. But if you don’t have time, then don’t beat yourself up for “not doing enough!”, and you do not have to “be the best”!

This is what has worked for me! I am young but I have also been doing it for a long time!

If you’re always looking for external motivation to push yourself, you’re not gonna get anywhere. Yes, having a support system is definitely essential & can help you achieve your goals. However if you truly want to succeed, the drive has to come from within you. No one else can find that but you.

There’s a time & place to “toughen up” but without rest you won’t be able to recover to do the hard work that you need to do!

Wet & humid this morning so not the fastest 5K but no mudslides or falls. Sometimes that’s what you gotta do.

Good community & got to catch up with a few familiar faces & some of my former clients. Run to support land conservation for the Piedmont foxhunters.

10K at Sky Meadows next weekend to support the park & open recreational spaces there.

Happy Memorial Day!

Took off like a bullet at the beginning just like two weekends ago.

Accidentally took a bit of an early turn at the very end of the race but I’m okay with that. Moreso running for the cause & to support and its vendors including and all others involved.

Great to catch up with .running.coach, many other familiar faces, and several of my old high school teachers!

Next race is TBD but will write up another post next time I run one!

Got 2026 PR for this distance and also won the Middleburg Wellness Day 5K! Route may have gotten cut short but that’s okay as this is still a 2026 PR. Also led the warm-up before both the 5K and the 10K races this morning!

Thank you .community.center, Middleburg Police Department, and the fellow crew for hosting & putting on this event!
