Quick question worth thinking about: when a new RN, PT, OT, or SLP joins your team, what does their OASIS training look like?
For most agencies, the honest answer is — not much. A manual, maybe a shadowing opportunity, and a hope that experience fills in the rest.
The problem is that every discipline completing OASIS assessments needs the same foundational accuracy, and most agencies aren't training any of them consistently. Without structured training from the start, clinicians develop habits that are hard to correct — and that directly affects your quality outcomes and compliance posture.
I work with home health agencies to close two gaps that often go unaddressed:
• Structured OASIS onboarding curriculum — built from current CMS source materials, covering all assessment types and designed for their level of understanding.
• Competency assessment tools — so you can document that training was completed and that your clinicians can apply it correctly
Together, these give your agency a clear, documented way to show how OASIS training and competency are addressed - and a stronger foundation for coding accuracy across your clinical team.
If this is a gap you've been meaning to address, I'd love to talk. Message me here or call to learn more!!
