AAAA had a GLAM-orous weekend at the inaugural Great Lakes Anesthesiology Meeting (GLAM)!

Representing AAAA were Emily Mycyk, CAA, President; Jamie Haar, CAA; Sasi Duggirala, CAA, Southern Caucus Director; Daniel Mesaros, CAA, Immediate Past President; and Dustin Murphy, CAA, President of the Wisconsin Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants; and Leigh Maltby, Executive Director.

We were excited to connect with anesthesia colleagues, educate attendees about Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants, and share more about AAAA’s continued advocacy initiatives throughout the Great Lakes region.

AAAA is proud to be recognized among the finalists for the 2026 Women in Government Relations Excellence in Advocacy Awards!

This year, AAAA is represented in two award categories:
⭐ Nicole Moore, CAA, AAAA Immediate Past President — Finalist for Excellence in Advocacy by a Volunteer Leader, recognizing her leadership, dedication, and impact in advancing the CAA profession.
⭐ Achieving CAA Licensure in Virginia — Finalist for Excellence in a State Issue Campaign, recognizing the collaborative advocacy effort that successfully brought CAA licensure to Virginia.

We are incredibly proud of Nicole and grateful to Brian Flynn, Brienne Seekford, Sarah Graham Taylor, Sara Brown Vernon, and all of the VA AAA members whose leadership and partnership helped make the Virginia campaign a success.

What a week for our State Academies! 🎉

Together, our State Academies raised more than $68,000 during State Academy Fundraiser Week to support advocacy, education, and initiatives advancing the CAA profession at the state level.

Congratulations to this year’s top three State Academies:
🥇 Minnesota — 1st Place | $2,500 grant
🥈 Kansas — 2nd Place | $1,000 grant
🥉 Georgia — 3rd Place | $500 grant

Winners are determined by funds raised per member, not total dollars alone—meaning every donation and every member who participated helped their academy compete for the top spot.

Thank you to every State Academy that rallied its members, spread the word, and made this year’s fundraiser such a success—and to everyone who donated. Your support helps fuel the work happening across the country to strengthen State Academies and advance the CAA profession.
