The University of Colorado invites you to take part in a research study if you have a mutation, also referred to as a variant, in the CDH1 or CTNNA1 gene.

Researchers at the University of Colorado Cancer Center are conducting a study to better understand how people with CDH1 and CTNNA1 mutations think about their risk of gastric (stomach) cancer and how they feel about the medical options available to them. The study is titled: Perceptions of Gastric Cancer Risk and Attitudes Towards Endoscopic Surveillance in Patients with CDH1 and CTNNA1 Pathogenic Variants. What you share may help improve provider knowledge, patient communication, and future research in this area.

If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey. The survey is a self-report questionnaire and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

You can complete the survey here https://redcap.ucdenver.edu/surveys/?s=K7JJMRXC7WXYEXYP

If you have family members with a CDH1 or CTNNA1 mutation who may also be interested in participating, please feel free to forward this email and the survey link to them.

If you have questions about the study, please contact the lead investigator, Swati G. Patel, MD, MS, at 303-724-2441 or [email protected].

Thank you for considering participation in this research study.

Global Genes recently released Early and Often: Reimagining patient community engagement to improve clinical trials feasibility.

The paper, authored by the Global Genes Corporate Alliance with input from the Global Genes’ Global Advocacy Alliance, argues drug developers can improve the time and cost of rare disease clinical trials through better engagement with the patient community to better inform discovery and development of therapies. This report shows that listening to patient communities isn’t just helpful—it’s transformational. Advocacy leaders and patients provide the qualitative insights that traditional data can’t capture, uncovering critical factors that drive clinical trial success. Your Role Is Essential.

We are so proud and excited to have the ability to provide vital and necessary funding to one of the most talented and caring stomach cancer doctors at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Jeremy Davis is considered to be a leading expert in the research and care of stomach cancer patients with sporadic and hereditary diseases.

This new grant will help support ongoing CDH1 family research efforts at the National Cancer Institute and could not have been possible without your financial support.

The check was presented to Dr. Davis at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Inaugural Think Tank on Gastric Cancer Prevention.
