Congratulations to our most recent DAISY Award winner, Heather! Heather is a nurse on our Medical-Surgical Unit and recently cared for a patient who was struggling coordination between their insurance company and the pharmacy.

Heather went above and beyond to make sure this patient got the medication they needed post-discharge and helped navigate the intricacies of insurance. This patient described Heather as "competent, efficient, organized, caring and thoughtful."

Thank you, Heather, for advocating for this patient and taking the extra steps to make sure they were taken care of even after they left our facility. Congratulations on your well-deserved award!

Last Friday, Middlesex Health celebrated the graduation of its second paramedic class! The paramedic program is a reflection of who we are here at Middlesex Health. By educating and developing exceptional paramedics, we are strengthening emergency care throughout our region and ensuring that patients receive expert, compassionate care from the very first moments of an emergency.

Paramedic training is physically demanding, academically rigorous and emotionally challenging and each of you rose to the challenge and succeeded! I am so proud of each and every one of you! Congratulations to the Middlesex Health 2026 Paramedic Education Program graduates!

I am very excited to share that Middlesex Health is the recipient of a $300,000 grant made through the Department of Social Services to support our growing emergency medical services which now includes 12 state-of-the-art ambulances!

As the need for emergency medical care continues to grow, Middlesex Health is committed to expanding and strengthening those services so our communities have access to the lifesaving care they need. These ambulances are an important part of that commitment; helping our exceptional EMS teams provide fast, safe and compassionate care for years to come.

Congratulations to our most recent DAISY Award winner, Louie! Louie was nominated by a patient undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This patient wrote "she is always there with a hug, a smile and something to feel good about. She is everywhere at once and clearly everyone loves her just as much as I do. I know I'm not her only patient, yet somehow she makes me feel like I am her only concern. And it's not just me or her other patients; I've seen her also supporting fellow staff members at the hospital." Thank you, Louie, for your endless compassion and support for not just this patient, but all the patients you care for! I am truly grateful to have you on our team here at Middlesex Health!

We gathered together for the Annual meeting of ONL - NE (Organization of Nurse Leaders New England) this past week in beautiful Newport, RI! Together, we networked, leaned in, and learned the further critical importance of our leadership and its impact on the work we do. We celebrated leadership and those who accomplished honored awards and scholarships for educational advancement.

Additionally, I have passed the gavel to my dear friend and colleague, Dr. Nadia Raymond. Congratulations to you! I have all the confidence and trust in you.

My time as President of ONL-NE has been a true honor and privilege to serve the nurse leaders of New England. Together, we will continue to grow, lead, and make a lasting impact on healthcare and our nursing profession. ONL-NE will remain steadfast in its impact on fostering an environment where nurse leaders will grow and impact healthcare.
