From employment support, to creative and recreational activities, to transportation and residential services, we help people with developmental disabilities enjoy life and help to build a more inclusive world. Our Maher Center team supports people with developmental disabilities in envisioning and creating full, happy lives that reflect their individual interests and aspirations. In the process, w

e enrich life on Aquidneck Island and throughout the East Bay by helping members of our Maher Center family work, volunteer for other nonprofits, participate in civic activities, and contribute in so many ways to the cities and towns in which they live. We are all about living life to its fullest here at the James L Maher Center. You can find us in the kitchen, at our favorite parks, the bowling alley, local libraries and sailing with Sail To Prevail! Our summer has been filled with happy days.

We had a great day visiting the Bristol Police Department recently! It is so exciting to see the vehicles the officers drive and the holding tank. It was a very informative day!

Isn’t it great to make music together. We love when artists, like John Belisle, come and make music with us. The day is brighter when there is a song in your heart and a swing in your step.

Here’s a selection from some recent adventures: Tiverton park, Wickford Wharf, hydroponic planting Maher Garden Center painting, North Kingston library, Andrew’s practicing the bagpipes in Newport, and the Middletown library. There are so many great places to go to in Rhode Island!
