I love being part of a pioneering field.
New brain imaging research involving Kevin and Barbara Kunz and a team of neuroscientists was presented at an international conference this week. They found that reflexology activated not only the expected sensory areas of the brain, but also additional regions involved in sensory integration, emotion, and motor function.
The findings raise fascinating questions about how touch may influence the brain and nervous system.
As a nurse and reflexologist, I find this incredibly exciting.
The mind and body are not separate entities. They are in constant conversation. Reflexology is being recognized as one of the communication gateways to the brain.
The conversation is just beginning, and I can't wait to see where the research leads next.
