This weekend was our first trip as a family without our little Birdie. We celebrated the boys’ last day of school by going to SeaWorld — somewhere Shep has ALWAYS wanted to go. He’s our little animal lover and currently obsessed with all things ocean life 🐙🐠 (Also hit up the Alamo and took a Riverwalk cruise)

We rode every big roller coaster Shep could shimmy his way onto, watched all the shows, and stayed from open to close at 8pm that night 🤪
It was the first 24 hours I’ve gone without tears constantly streaming down my face.

Grief is so strange. I’ve never experienced anything like this kind. Most days, I swing into this overwhelming “live life to the fullest” mindset — wanting to go on adventures, take the boys everywhere, to taste new foods, do the things I’ve always been too scared to do, and soak up every second possible.

Then something tiny brings me right back to reality like her bath loofah sitting beside the tub or an Elmo episode playing in the background, or her favorite egg bites box from Costco sitting in the freezer and then I want to curl up in a corner and mourn her all over again.

A sweet friend recently gifted me a drawing of Birdie in the arms of Jesus, and right now it feels more comforting than photos. It’s beautiful in a way I can actually look at without completely falling apart.

I miss her in every moment, she is everywhere🤍

Being Birdie’s mom was the greatest honor of my life🎀🩷🤍 Missing her extra hard today.

Spending the day planting flowers and riding a Ferris wheel in the mall parking lot because that’s “Shep’s gift to me”🎡😅

One of my favorite part of Birdie’s memorial was Jhett insisting on taking the stage and saying these beautiful words for his little sister. 🩷🪽🕊️ we love you always and forever my beautiful Birdie girl!🕊️
