🏋️ Exercise of the Week: TRX Reverse Lunge
The reverse lunge is a great exercise for building lower body strength, balance, and stability. By stepping backward instead of forward, many people find it feels more comfortable on the knees while still challenging the legs and glutes.
Using the TRX adds an extra layer of support, making this exercise more approachable if you're working on balance, building confidence, or learning the movement pattern.
Why we like it:
✅ Builds strength one leg at a time
✅ Challenges balance and coordination
✅ Helps improve stability through the hips and knees
✅ Can be adjusted to fit a variety of fitness levels
✅ Provides support for those managing knee or joint discomfort
For individuals with chronic knee or joint issues, traditional lunges can sometimes feel intimidating. The TRX allows you to use the straps for assistance, helping reduce the amount of load and balance demands while still allowing you to build strength and practice the movement pattern.
One of the best things about the TRX is that it allows you to use as much or as little assistance as you need. Over time, you can gradually rely less on the straps as your strength and confidence improve.
Remember: the goal isn't to be perfect. It's to practice the movement, build the skill, and get a little stronger each time you do it.
