I stopped losing weight.
Same body. Same person. But what had always worked for me suddenly… didn’t.
And this is where genetics gets really freaking interesting.
Not because my genes magically told me how to lose weight. They didn’t.
They gave me clues about the systems that might matter more for me: appetite signaling, insulin and glucose regulation, how fat cells release and use stored energy, circadian timing, and thermogenesis.
Then comes the part I actually care about:
Are any of those clues relevant to what is happening in my body right now?
Because an FTO variant is not a diet plan.
An MTNR1B variant is not an instruction to stop eating at a certain time.
And an ADRB2 variant sure as hell doesn’t mean everyone carrying it needs the same “fat-burning” protocol.
Genetics gives me hypotheses.
Then I have to look at my current biology, what changed, how I’m eating, sleeping and moving, medications, hormones, symptoms, history, and the rest of the person standing in front of me.
Then we decide what deserves action.
For me, that meant looking at interventions like meal timing, cold exposure, specific nutrients and compounds, and asking a much better question than “Does this help with weight loss?”
Does the mechanism make sense for me?
That distinction is basically the entire reason I built MORPH.
I don’t want you doing what worked for me.
I don’t even want you doing something just because a study says it can work.
I want to understand enough about your biology to decide what has actually earned a place in your plan.
Because your genetics are not your protocol.
They’re one piece of the investigation.
Stop doing what works for everyone else.
Learn what your body needs.
