Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone for our Co-Op Intern, Sophia Smith, as she graduates from H.H. Dow High School!

Over the past year, she has brought such a positive attitude, creativity, and willingness to learn to the Lead team. We’ve loved watching her grow in confidence and professionalism, and we’re so grateful for the time she spent with us.

Please join us in congratulating her on this exciting next chapter, we can’t wait to see all the amazing things ahead for her.

Self-care is more than just “me time”. It’s about caring for your whole self.

Focusing on the 5 aspects of self-care can help create balance in everyday life:
Physical – caring for your body
Mental – supporting your mind
Social – building healthy connections
Emotional – understanding your feelings
Spiritual – nurturing your sense of purpose

Taking care of each area helps strengthen overall well-being and creates a healthier foundation for daily life.

Building a new habit doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, it starts with MAP!

Think of it like this:

You want to start drinking more water each day. Your MOTIVATION is feeling healthier and having more energy. Your ABILITY is making it easy by keeping a water bottle with you. Your PROMPT is setting it by your keys so you see it before leaving the house.

When motivation, ability, and prompts work together, habits become easier to build, one small step at a time. What habit are you working on right now?

We’re incredibly grateful to the Shiawassee Community Foundation and Shiawassee Youth Advisory Council for supporting the expansion of Lead’s work with foster youth and families into Shiawassee County.

At Sunday’s award ceremony, these high school students truly blew us away. Each YAC Member presented on the organizations they chose to fund through the YAC W.K. Kellogg Fund and it was clear how thoughtfully they approached every decision.

What stood out most was how deeply they understood the service gap for many foster youth. They recognized that young people don’t just need support in the moment, they need skills they can carry with them, no matter where they go next. They specifically called out how Lead's program can move with a young person, whether they return home or transition to a new placement. That insight says everything about the kind of leaders they already are.

We’re honored to bring Lead's program and impact to Shiawassee County.

Thank you to the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity to have our Executive Director, Kelsey Snyder, speak on the Dos and Don’ts of Networking.

We loved the energy in the room and the real conversations that came out of it. Networking doesn’t have to feel forced or awkward, it’s about showing up, listening, and building genuine connections that last.

Grateful to be part of a community that values growth, collaboration, and learning from each other. Looking forward to continuing the conversation.

Goals don’t have to be big or perfect to count.

SMART goals are just a way to make things feel less overwhelming:

• Specific – clear and simple
• Measurable – you’ll know when it’s done
• Achievable – realistic for your life
• Relevant – it actually matters to you
• Time-based – not “someday,” but a timeframe

Start small. One clear goal is better than ten you never touch.

Most of us don’t realize how often our mindset is shaping what we believe is possible.

A fixed mindset says:
“I’m just not good at this.”
“This is too hard.”
“I’ll probably fail anyway.”

A growth mindset sounds like:
“I’m not there yet.”
“What can I learn from this?”
“Let me try again a different way.”

The difference isn’t talent.
It’s how you respond when things get uncomfortable.

We see this every day with the youth we work with, especially those who haven’t always had consistent support. When they start to shift from “I can’t” to “I can learn,” everything begins to change. Confidence grows. Effort increases. Possibilities open up.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to be willing to try, learn, and keep going.

What’s one thing you’ve been telling yourself you “can’t” do… that might just need a “not yet”?

25 young adults now have more than just a laptop, they have a path forward.

A huge thank you to amazing partners who made this possible: Nexteer Automotive for donating the laptops and to NetSource One and Freeland Fabricators for installing Windows 11, and refurbishing each one with care.

These laptops are going to young people through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, helping them access Lead Within to build confidence, career readiness, and real-life skills for what comes next.

Because when young people are given the right tools, everything starts to change.
