I asked the ladies a question mid-workout last week....
"So how much protein are we averaging?"
Answers varied from- "Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answers toπ,"........to 60-100 grams/day.
Here's the dealio with protein.
You eat it to build muscle. You might "think" you're eating a lot of protein. But, you have no clue because you have never actually tracked it.
And then when you go to track it , you realize you're eating 1/3 to maybe 1/2 of what you, as a grown woman, actually needs!
So what does that mean if you're not eating enough protein?π€π€
First of all , I would say you are probably eating too much of the other macros- Fat & Carbs.
** We need those things too , just probably not at the ratio that you're eating them.
When you start eating enough protein, you stay full for longer, so that automatically means you're going to be eating less fat and carbs. You're not gonna be tempted to eat all the junk and the empty calories that go right to your b***y or your gut.
And then let's go one step further and say that you are also doing consistent strength training. So now you're moving your body against resistance. Your muscles breakdown after a workout and they need two things to repair and come back stronger.
1. REST
2. FUEL
Are you trying to grow your muscle or your fat layer???? Because if you want to grow muscle , you need to reach your protein goal. You get that # by x your bodyweight by .8 or 1
Again, you can get caught in the weeds here and overthink it or waste time trying to be "perfect ", or you can start with that simple calculation and start getting it in the ballpark.
There's no way to get it going in the right direction without just getting moving.π― Imperfectly. Messily. Good days and bad.
That is actually the way. π―π―π―
If you're looking for a space where you can show up and get put through a no-frills but EFFECTIVE workout, I've got you. Nothing fancy. Because nothing fancy is needed.
Summer can be a great time to get started. ANYTIME is a great time. There's no perfect time. But sooner is better than later. π
