THE HOLLY AND OAK KING

Across much of northern European folklore, the year is said to be ruled by two ancient brothers, the Holly King and the Oak King. One cloaked in winter's shadow, the other crowned in summer's light.

The Oak King, often symbolised by the robin, reigns from Yule to Midsummer, bringing growth, vitality, and the lengthening days. The Holly King, linked with the wren, rules from Midsummer to Yule, guiding the land toward harvest, reflection, and the dark half of the year.

At the Summer Solstice, the Oak King stands at the height of his power. The woods are green, the sun is strong, and life is abundant. Yet from this day onward, the light begins its slow retreat. The Holly King returns, and the wheel turns once more.

They are not enemies, but two faces of the same cycle, each giving way to the other in their season.

And so it goes on.

Blessed Summer Solstice ✨🌞🌿
The the official first day of astronomical summer is today Sunday June 21 at 4:24 am EST. The Summer Solstice is a time to honor our life giving Sun and all the growth we have done as humans since the Winter Solstice. During the Winter Solstice we call in the light by hanging lights, burning candles, etc. For the Summer Solstice don't forget to honor the shadow side of ourselves. It is all about balance. I have shared some crystals you can work with to honor the Solstice. You can also make yourself a delicious Sun tea to honor our Sun and the masculine parts of nature and ourselves. Don't forget to leave a little treat out for our Fairy friends. Happy Summer my loves!

The Summer Solstice is tomorrow and I wanted to share about Litha. I do not subscribe to any organized religion but share beliefs and practices with religions that worship the Earth. Litha is one of the eight major seasonal sabbats that make up the Pagan and Wiccan Wheel of the Year.
Litha, also known as Midsummer, occurs on the Summer Solstice, and celebrates the beginning of Summer. The traditions of Litha appear to be borrowed from many cultures. Most ancient cultures celebrated the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year in some form. The Celts celebrated Litha with hilltop bonfires, honoring Earth, the blossoming flowers, magical beings, and dancing. I hope you celebrate Summer's welcome! Happy Solstice!

Seeing the World Differently: Autistic Strengths in Perception and Connection

There is a kind of thinking that doesn't follow the usual map, and many autistic people describe experiencing the world in this way.
In that difference, there can be strengths that are often overlooked in fast-paced environments.

Some autistic individuals find themselves designing things that others haven't imagined yet, because their thinking is less bound by conventional patterns.
This can look like innovation in art, systems, problem-solving, or creative design.
Many also describe a natural skepticism that leads them to question information carefully before accepting it. That same attentiveness can help them notice details others might miss entirely.

In social spaces, some autistic people are highly sensitive to the energy and tone a room carries. They may pick up subtle shifts in behavior, expression, or environment that others overlook. When safety is present, many are capable of deep, authentic connection that feels grounded and real. Honesty can also be a defining strength, especially in moments where others may struggle to say what is true. When these traits are supported instead of masked, they can become powerful contributions to relationships and communities.
