For the second time in a week, Milan & Dummer EMS has had both ambulances on Advanced Life Support calls simultaneously.

While Ambulance One was en route to AVH to bring a resident to an outside area hospital for definitive care, our duty crew was responding simultaneously to a 911 call in West Milan.

Thank you to our crews for their dedication.

Today was a strong example of our team's dedication and operational readiness in serving our communities! 🚑

Earlier today, Ambulance One was dispatched on an inter-facility, hospital-to-hospital transport to safely bring a local resident to an outside area hospital for a critical procedure. While Ambulance One and its crew were deployed on that call, a second emergency 911 call came in for our service area. Our dedicated duty crew stepped right up and handled the simultaneous 911 response without delay.

This comes right after a fairly busy weekend filled with numerous inter-facility Advanced Life Support hospital to hospital transfers throughout the weekend.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our dedicated crew members for their hard work, flexibility, and constant commitment to keeping Milan and Dummer safe and covered 24/7! 👏❤️

Yesterday, Milan & Dummer EMS and Milan Fire Department were dispatched for a reported Motorcycle Accident with ejection.

Due to the mechanism of injury and out of an abundance of caution, the duty crew activated the Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team - DHART to respond with a medevac helicopter.

Early arriving members of the fire department were members of our current Emergency Medical Responder course, and relayed pertinent and relevant patient updates to our responding ambulance.

Our Advanced Life Support crew after arriving on scene subsequently requested a mutual aid paramedic response from the Professional Firefighters of Berlin IAFF Local 1088.

The patient was safely packaged and transported by ground to AVH in Berlin and later flown to a regional trauma center.

In small communities, a coordinated multi-agency response isn't the exception, it's the norm. Thank you to our mutual aid partners for their support.

Tonight, members of our Emergency Medical Responder course had their first class in our new training facility.

We tackled two incredibly challenging topics, extrication of patients from a motor vehicle accident as well as response to mass casualty incidents with large numbers of patients.

Thank you to our volunteer patients, and great work to our students.

Tonight's simulations included a multi patient motor vehicle accident and a car vs. numerous pedestrians.

July is off to a busy start for Milan & Dummer EMS with 12 calls in the first 11 days of the month.

Numerous 911 calls and Advanced Life Support transfers to outside area hospitals.

Thank you to our members who have taken time away from their families to cover the influx in call volume.

Last night, our EMR students learned all about bandaging, splinting and hemorrhage control.

In just a few more weeks, these students will be sitting down for their class finals and then their national exams.

Many of these students have already logged over 20 hours of clinical ride along time with our field preceptors and numerous patient contacts.

Once class is complete, and they receive their national and state licenses, the educational process continues for several more months on the watchful eye of senior advanced life support providers, who will provide ongoing mentorship and training through our workforce development program.

We've been working on a big announcement to go along with our recent Federal Workforce Development grant.

Welcome to our soon to be classroom space in the new Milan and Dummer Ambulance training facility. We are still working on the finishing touches, but this facility will allow us to train upwards of 50+ new EMS responders over the next two years.

The new facility will not only help us train the next generation of EMS responders, but it will also help reduce ambulance response times when seconds make a difference.

We can't wait to share more in the coming weeks about the facility, our EMS educators, and our new grant funded training program.

It's been a long holiday weekend for Milan & Dummer EMS, with numerous Advanced Life Support hospital to hospital transfers, and 911 calls.

We are also happy to report that a number of our Emergency Medical Responder Students and newly licensed EMTs made it out on calls this holiday weekend as part of their preceptorship.

Thank you to our crews for helping keep the community safe this weekend.

Please join us in congratulating Chantal LaMere on successfully passing her National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT exam today.

Chantal is a member of our departments workforce development program that we recently received federal grant funding to expand. Chantal started with the department as an Emergency Medical Responder in our pilot in house training program last year. She makes our second member of last years EMR program to upgrade to EMT.

We are currently about half way through our second EMR class with another EMT class scheduled for this fall.
