"If someone is having a heart attack, CPR will fix it."
FACT: ❤️
A heart attack and cardiac arrest are not the same thing.
A person having a heart attack is usually awake and breathing. They need immediate medical attention and 911 should be called.
CPR is used when a person goes into cardiac arrest — when their heart stops effectively pumping blood and they become unresponsive and stop breathing normally.
Knowing the difference can help you respond correctly in an emergency.

• Sudden collapse
• No normal breathing

✅ FACT: Effective CPR requires hard, fast chest compressions. Unfortunately, broken ribs can happen — but when someone’s heart has stopped, giving them a chance to survive is what matters most.
Doing something is always better than doing nothing. 💙
