Have you ever had the simple joy of painting a birdhouse? We did on campus yesterday!
Connecting with our hands, making art, and staying creative is something that not only sticks with us as a core memory, but it's something that we can continue to make new memories doing!
At PACE Your LIFE, located right here on the Milford Wellness Village campus, seniors are helped to stay independent, healthy, and creative while still living in the comfort of their own homes.
Through the all-inclusive care at PACE, everything is handled from comprehensive medical services to physical therapy, social activities and even art projects like this that keep sparking those core memories and creative vibes on and off campus.
PACE serves seniors aged 55 and older across southern Kent and northern Sussex counties. The program is available to residents in the following Delaware zip codes: 19933, 19934, 19941, 19943, 19946, 19950, 19952, 19954, 19958, 19960, 19962, 19963, 19968, and 19979.
Keep creating with our village.

Today is National Hydration Day and right outside our main conference room we are keeping students of continuing education classes coooool with cold delicious water!
As the summer heats up, (and up, and up) remember that proper hydration isn't just about drinking water.
To fully recover and stay hydrated, make sure you are replenishing those electrolytes lost through sweat from hard work, play or just from lounging outside.
Fun fact- This day honors football coach Victor Hawkins, who revolutionized athlete hydration with his electrolyte-releasing mouthguard.
Stay smart, stay hydrated, and stay Cool! 😎.

Take a moment for yourself today.
Get away from the noise, and relax. Enjoy a quiet space or a little bench tucked away somewhere like this one right here on the Milford Wellness Village Campus.
Did you know that quiet spaces are great for your health? According to research from the University of Delaware’s Healthy Communities initiative, providing dedicated spaces for, "passive recreational opportunities," like a peaceful bench to rest on and unwind is essential for reducing day to day stress and supporting your overall well-being (Beck, 2010).

Collaboration is at the heart of Milford Wellness Village. That community collaboration was on full display last week when one of our own campus residents, Jason O'Connor with the Mental Health Association in Delaware, hosted the Sussex Huddle meeting right here.
The Sussex Huddle is made up of outreach organizations in Sussex and their focus is on Veteran Su***de Awareness and Prevention. Having these dedicated groups connect at the Milford Wellness Village gave us a chance to serve and let's us participate by being a hub for these very important community conversations.
The meeting focused on what they are doing to continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health by putting into place ideas on how their conversations will be turned into action.
We were honored to see representatives from People's Place, Inc., Meadow Wood Behavioral Health System, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Veterans Initiative Coordinator from Delaware Health and Social Services in the room as well as dedicated community members and several other community organizations who are solidly focused on helping veterans, as well as the unhoused and who are dedicated to other vital outreach opportunities in our rural and sometimes undeserved lower Delaware communities.
Don't forget- work this important requires good fuel, so a special thanks to Judy from Meadow Wood for making sure to keep everyone energized with plenty of pizza during the meeting.
If your organization is focused on helping local veterans, you can reach out to

If you’ve ever walked through the doors of the Milford Wellness Village and seen Donna, chances are your day was made just a little bit brighter!
Donna joined our volunteer family in August of 2023, bringing a wealth of life experience with her. After a long career working in Agricultural and Veteranary care with the States of Maryland and then Delaware , Donna began her volunteer career working with Veterans.
She says she learned more about the profound value of opening her ears and simply listening to what people have to say during time with them.Though her philosophy has always been that listening to and sitting with someone is a kindness, "everyone deserves," this was cemented even more deeply within her during her time volunteering with this great group of people who wanted to share stories.
Her many experiences from growing up as one of six sisters in rural Virgina, to moving all over with her husband during his time in the Navy (her kids liked being stationed in Hawaii the most) to working with people, Donna discovered that simply listening is one of the highest forms of respect you can give to someone. As she puts it, " you must give everyone respect, and kindness."
To Donna, hospitality isn't a duty, it's a privalage to be able to give.
She says that a simple "hello" goes a long way.
If you need a moment to share your story, or just like to see a friendly face as you pass by, Donna is always ready to offer both!
Oh, and if you happen to be lost, Donna has you covered. She will happily pull out her trusty Milford Wellness Village map that she keeps tucked away in the cabinet behind her desk to make sure you get exactly where you're going!
Originally moving to the area about 20 years ago with her husband, James, Donna is now a resident of Milford, the proud mother of Greg and Jill, and her world is made even bigger and better with her family extending to six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
We are so grateful for Donna Ernsberger and the sense of community she brings to our campus. Next time you walk through our doors and see her at the front, be sure to stop by, say hello, and share a smile!
