Pregnancy exercise advice has spent a LONG time sounding like a list of things women aren’t allowed to do.

Don’t lift heavy.
Don’t run after ___ weeks.
Don’t lie on your back.
Don’t let your heart rate get too high.
Don’t start anything new.

Meanwhile… pregnancy itself is a pretty significant physical event. 😂

Here’s what we’d rather you know:

There isn’t one universally “safe” pregnancy workout—and there isn’t a magical week when running, lifting, or training suddenly becomes “unsafe.”

Your training should match your body, your pregnancy, your symptoms, your history, and your current capacity.

One woman may comfortably run at 38 weeks. Another may need to stop at 14.

Both can be making the right decision.

And if we could choose one thing we’d love more pregnant women to have in their toolbox?

Strength.

Because pregnancy asks a LOT from your body. So does birth. And then somebody hands you an increasingly heavy tiny human and expects you to carry them around for the next four years. 😏

You don’t need to be fragile.

You need to be appropriately challenged, supported, and given permission to listen to your body instead of an arbitrary rule.

Pregnant and wondering what you can keep doing—or how to modify training without giving up everything you love?

That’s our kind of problem. 💪

Send us “PREGNANT” and we’ll help you figure out your next step.

Lessons from the Livestock Tub

Your body is basically a lazy river. A lazy river needs the right amount of water. Electrolytes and creatine both play a part in keeping your bodily lazy river at the right level.

The right amount looks different for everyone, but it's worth it to find what works for you. "I'm just not a water person" is not the personality trait to shoot for.

Most people find out about half of this on their fifth visit. Usually mid session, on the table, going wait, you do that too?

Yes. We do birth prep. We do pregnancy and postpartum PT. We do nutrition coaching and personal training. We do dry needling and shockwave. We do plain old sports PT, backs and necks and shoulders included.

And we treat men. Men have pelvic floors and cranky shoulders too.

Instagram: Try this cute little mobility trend with your bestie. ✨

Physical therapists: Absolutely. Hold my coffee.

Because apparently we cannot see a completely unnecessary display of hip mobility on the internet without immediately asking:

“Yeah, but can WE do it?”

Spoiler: Nailed it. 💅

Was it evidence-based? Debatable.
Was it clinically necessary? Absolutely not.
Did we demonstrate adequate hip mobility, questionable decision-making, and an unreasonable commitment to the bit?

Yes. Yes we did.

Your healthcare providers, ladies and gentlemen. 😂

Come to RevWell. We take your rehab seriously.

Ourselves? Considerably less so.

Special thanks to Cass Martin and Jaimy Wylie for the opening stitched video.

The kids are back in school and there are suddenly hours on your calendar that nobody has claimed yet.

Claim one before the laundry does.

Not for errands. Not for the appointments you make for everyone else. One hour for the thing you have been putting off since your first baby. The leaking. The pressure. The back that never quite went away.

You have spent every fall getting everyone else ready. This time, it's your turn.

We really do say these with love. We promise. I bet some these sound familiar. What other one liners do we say that haunt your dreams?

It’s wild what we’ve normalized.

Wild that you’ll spend hundreds at Sephora and nothing on the thing that stops you leaking. Wild that a stranger on IG is somehow your ab separation expert because she had a baby once. Wild that you lift a 30 pound toddler all day and still eye a 30 pound dumbbell like it’s going to hurt you.

Wild that six weeks and five minutes with your OB counts as recovered.

Leave wild to the nature documentaries, come in and start re-defining normal.

We’ve stayed largely silent on the Lindsay Clancy trial.

Not because we don’t have thoughts.

Because this is bigger than a headline. Bigger than a verdict. And bigger than one family’s unimaginable tragedy.

We work with women during pregnancy and postpartum every single day. We see the physical recovery, yes—but we also see the pressure, isolation, exhaustion, identity shifts, fear, and the enormous expectations placed on mothers to somehow keep functioning through all of it.

And we need to be able to hold two devastating truths at the same time:

Children lost their lives.

And maternal mental health can become a medical emergency.

Those truths do not cancel each other out.

This case has generated a lot of opinions about motherhood, postpartum mental illness, responsibility, and what someone “should have” noticed or done.

We hope it generates something else, too:

More conversations before someone reaches crisis.
More screening that actually leads somewhere.
More support for families who say, “Something is wrong.”
More willingness to take postpartum mental health as seriously as postpartum physical health.

Because “mom and baby are healthy” cannot be where postpartum care ends.

We can do better for mothers.

We have to.

I’m Bucky. I work in a pelvic floor clinic.

I don’t have a DPT, but I do sit here all day listening to women say things like:

“My hips are just really tight.”

And then, approximately 11 minutes later, we’ve uncovered ADHD, pregnancy-related pelvic pain, a lifetime of overachieving, chronic low back pain, joints that click like a bowl of Rice Krispies, and a nervous system that has apparently been working overtime since 1994.

Interesting.

You keep stretching the hips.

You keep foam rolling them.

You sign up for Pilates. Then yoga. Then HIIT. Then another strength app because maybe THIS ONE will finally fix whatever feels off.

Meanwhile your body is basically saying:

“Ma’am. I do not need more flexibility. I would like to feel STABLE.”

Because sometimes “tight” muscles aren’t actually short muscles.

Sometimes they’re muscles gripping for dear life because your brain and body don’t feel like they have enough support, control, or stability.

And yes — your pelvic floor is part of that system.

Your breathing.
Your abdominal wall.
Your hips.
Your spine.
Your pelvic floor.
Your nervous system.

They do not operate in separate zip codes.

So if this carousel felt slightly too specific…

Bucky knows.

And pelvic floor PT might be a much better place to start than buying your 14th mobility program.
