Journey/Business Update:
Hello All, I apologize for taking so long to give you all an update but it has been quite the journey.
I’ve gotta say that this was a tough road and I appreciate all the prayers, great thoughts and support from everyone.
So, quick recap…I have been battling Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer after being diagnosed in February. It is inoperable and I had 2 masses in the right lung, cancer cells throughout my lung fluid and 2 masses in the left lung with several tiny masses also.
Our options were chemo to reduce cells, immunotherapy and/or targeted therapy to reduce and keep it from regrowing or starting somewhere new.
So chemo it was, 4 rounds of double chemo, 1 round of immunotherapy and then 2 rounds of single chemo.
Immunotherapy was a s**t show…sent my immune system into overdrive and I can’t have the steroids to keep it in check so that was not fun. Regrettably they did not have a good targeted therapy yet for my type of cancer.
Good news….the chemo has drastically reduced my cancer cells!!!!
Yes, take a minute and do a happy dance with me 💃 See, I wasn’t kidding when I said I was gonna kick cancer’s ass!
They currently only see activity still in the largest mass on the right and one mass on the left and both of them are much smaller than what they were.
I had a tough call to make at that point. My only option for treatment to keep regrowth/new growth at bay was to keep doing chemo until my body couldn’t tolerate it anymore.
Anyone who has had chemo will tell you how hard it is and how tough it is to get sicker and sicker after each infusion and seeing your body not bounce back in between treatments anymore. I can’t have steroids (they help with symptoms, give your body a boost and keep your immune system in check) so chemo takes a real toll on me. That is not the quality of life I wanted to have until my end of days.
So I made the decision to stop chemo before the chemo puts me in the ground, get myself to the best health I can so that I can spend quality time with my family and live life to the fullest until this wretched monster comes back to life.
Even better news….after making my decision, we found out that a brand new targeted therapy was just approved for my type of cancer!!!!!! Your prayers are working!!!!! 🙏
The new medicine won’t be available until approximately October but fingers crossed that regrowth holds off until then, my health continues to improve a bit and my cancer responds well to it! It could give me years vs months 😊
We are staying positive and hoping to feel well enough to get out in the shop and making product soon!
I’m not quitting yet. I hope to be able to open for a weekend in the Fall with a decent amount of products available 💗
So if you are still reading, list your favorite products in the comments and I will do my best to have them available.
Keep Praying and Thank You for being such wonderful customers and friends 💗
