The weather forecast in my area is 90+ degrees almost all week. here are some tips on how I survive the heat using herbs, food, and some other easy swaps.
🌞 the first one is a bit obvious, but stay out of the sun in the middle of the day if possible.
💦 stay hydrated! sip on cool (not freezing cold!) water or coconut water throughout the day. freezing cold water slows down digestion, making it harder for your body to process food.
🫖 drink cooling teas like hibiscus (my favorite, pictured here), mint, or fennel seed.
🌹 spritz your face with some cool rose water.
🌿 soak your feet in cool water, you can also add mint leaves for a more cooling effect.
👚 dress in loose clothing made of natural fibers like cotton or linen. polyester traps heat and sweat to your body, increasing your body temperature. natural fibers allow your skin to breathe.
🌶️ avoid spicy or sour foods, eat cooling foods like cucumber, melons, leafy greens, zucchini, cilantro, dill, and basil. favor salads, wraps, gazpachos (cold soups) or fruit. eat small and easily digestible meals.
