Be Sad; Keep Going

Be Sad; Keep Going Helping you persevere through grief, loss, depression & more because you get to be sad but you HAVE to keep going

“Be Sad; Keep Going” is a powerful message that encourages us to embrace our emotions, even the difficult ones, and acknowledge that they are a natural part of the human experience. While it’s important to allow ourselves the space to feel sadness, it’s equally important to remember that tough times won’t last forever. By moving forward when we’re ready, we can find the strength to overcome challenges and grow stronger in the process.

Your community exists to help you through tough moments, why not use them?

We tell ourselves soooo many stories about why we don’t want to ask for help (myself included) but I can guarantee you somebody in your community would prefer you interrupted their sleep because you needed support instead of them finding out that the worst has happened the next morning.

I think it’s so important to build up that village because sometimes you’ll have to reach out to a few people to get that support.

Additionally, you can always text or call 988 if you just need somebody to talk to. I’ve used it many times myself so there’s no shame in that.

Who else needed this reminder?

Shout out to The DJ for having me on Share The Vibes podcast to talk about this and so much more. Check out the episode wherever you get your podcasts.

I think it’s so important to have something (or some things) that you know will pull you out of a funk. One of the greatest tools I have in my toolkit is movement. I’m grateful I have that and so many other tools in my toolkit that help recenter me when I’m feeling down, when grief is trying to take over or depression has a strong grip on me.

Do you have something or somethings in your toolkit to help you regulate your emotions and improve your mood?

Drop them in the comments for somebody else looking for ideas on how to

I never see enough conversation about how dreams can randomly trigger your grief.

This morning I had a dream where I was actually talking to, seeing and playing around with my mom.

As I was in between sleeping and waking up, I had the thought that I would call her later today and see what she’s up to…

Too bad heaven doesn’t have an open phone line.

All I can do is through all the feels that brought up for me 🙏🏾

While I think this sentiment is just a result of being “grief illiterate,” it can really do so much more damage than help those of us are that are grieving. “At least your loved one is in a better place,” is something I think people say because 1. They don’t know what to say 2. They don’t like to sit with the discomfort of what they found out or see you going through 3. See number one.

Through my stories and insights I share here at , I hope to make this world a little more “Grief literate” a little bit at a time. How do you feel? Does this sentiment bring you comfort or annoy you more?

I’m absolutely in awe of these shots I got back from the Social X InspiHER Wellness event last month! If you can’t tell, one thing I’m going to do while teaching is have a good time! I’m grateful that I was able to share my story about how I’ve got through one of the hardest losses of my life and share the power of dance with others, as it’s been such an incredible tool for me to heal on this journey of navigating life without my mom.

Huge gratitude goes to Social X MKE for bringing me in and for the attendees for giving me their time, attention and good energy to learn about one of the best tools to help you Be Sad; Keep Going!
