"What is that? Does it hurt? Will you put needles in me?" - Yes, we hear these questions. A lot. Let's demystify two of our most effective treatment tools. 🪡

Dry Needling uses thin monofilament needles to release muscle trigger points - those knots that won't let go no matter how much you foam roll. It works by stimulating the tissue to release and reset muscle tension. Most people feel a deep ache or muscle twitch during, and then significant relief after. It's not acupuncture, and it's not scary (promise).

Manual Therapy is hands-on work - joint mobilization, soft tissue techniques, myofascial release - done by a trained physical therapist to restore movement and reduce pain. Think of it as skilled, purposeful bodywork that's guided by a diagnosis.

Neither one is magic. Both are powerful when paired with the right exercise and movement plan.

Whether you had a vaginal birth or a C-section, your body went through something profound. Healing a pelvic floor, abdominal muscles (including diastasis recti), scar tissue, hormonal shifts, and a completely disrupted sleep schedule - all while caring for a newborn - is not a small thing.

Monday motivation, and this one's personal. 💛 If you're a woman over 40 who has been putting off strength training 💪 - this post is your sign.

Here's the honest truth: after 40, women lose muscle mass at an accelerating rate (a process called sarcopenia), and declining estrogen levels affect bone density, metabolism, joint health, and even mood. The single most effective tool to counter all of this? Lifting weights.

Not "toning." Not light weights for high reps. Actual progressive resistance training.

Strength training for women 40+ builds and preserves muscle, protects bone density, improves metabolic health, supports hormone balance, reduces injury risk, and - this is real - makes you feel like a capable, powerful human being.

Summer sports season is in full swing - and so is summer sports injury season. 🏈⚽🎾

The warm months bring weekend warriors back to the field, new runners to the trails, and kids ramping up their activity after a school year of sitting. All of that movement is wonderful - and all of it comes with injury risk if your body isn't prepared.

The most common summer injuries we see: ankle sprains, knee pain (especially runner's knee and IT band syndrome), shoulder strains from overhead sports, and low back flares from sudden increases in activity.

The good news: most of these are preventable with the right warm-up, progressive loading, and some basic movement screening. You don't need to be an elite athlete to move smart.

At Vita, we offer movement screenings and injury prevention programming for adults and young athletes alike. Catch a problem before it becomes a problem.

Let's have the conversation nobody's having at brunch: urinary leakage is not just "part of getting older" or "what happens after babies." 🗣️

Yes, it's common - shockingly common. But common doesn't mean inevitable, untreatable, or something you should just manage with pads for the rest of your life.

Urinary leakage (also called stress incontinence) happens when the pelvic floor muscles can't manage pressure increases - like coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, or lifting. The pelvic floor can also be too tight, causing urgency leakage or difficulty controlling the bladder entirely.

The good news: pelvic floor therapy has a very high success rate for incontinence.

If you've been quietly dealing with this - during workouts, on runs, when you sneeze - you don't have to. And you definitely don't have to feel embarrassed about it. This is literally what we do every day.
