A full circle moment 💙

After the tragic loss of her son to aplastic anemia in 2018, Saira wanted to give back. Her recent financial support is helping to fund the NMDP Amy Strelzer Manasevit Research Program, which helps to fund emerging researchers on topics surrounding prevention and treatment of post-transplant complications.

Recently, NMDP awarded this year's funding to two motivated researchers — Dr. Julie Boiko and Dr. Susan Conway, who runs a lab in the very hospital where Saira's son, Hadi, was treated.

Thanks to supporters like Saira, we're helping to drive innovation for the next generation of stem cell transplant recipients.

Cara’s not your average college student. While studying chemistry and conducting research at Georgia Tech, she got a call that she never expected — she was a donor match for a patient in need.

Heroically, she said “yes” and traveled across the country to donate. Her recipient, Brady, is in recovery today, thanks to Cara.

Jenny crossed the finish line…for NMDP! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Side-by-side with her husband, Jenny ran the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon to support our life-saving mission. Together, they raised over $2,200 to help fund patient assistance and research for other patients just like her. After receiving a blood stem cell transplant herself, Jenny knew just how important it was to stand up and support those who need help 💙

When Ethan joined the NMDP Registry alongside his fraternity brothers, he didn't expect to be called as a donor so soon.

He's selflessly donated blood stem cells twice, and today, he continues to help recruit new registry members and raise awareness through our partnership with Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

As we celebrate 150,000 transplants facilitated, we're grateful for the member recruitment partners like SAE who help make stories like Ethan's possible. Over the past five years, these partnerships have helped add more than 150,000 registry members, resulting in 500 blood stem cell donors. 💙

Summer break may be ending, but Cate’s search for a life-saving blood stem cell donor continues. 💙

Cate's family spent their summer balancing doctor appointments with registration drives that inspired thousands to join the NMDP Registry. Eight of those people who were inspired to join because of her story have already been called as potential donors for other patients.

As Cate starts another school year and her mom, Jenni, heads back to the classroom, their search continues, and so does the incredible impact they’re making.

“The connection with other survivors, and the guided topics, were very helpful in giving me an opportunity to connect with people who have gone through a similar experience. I don’t know anyone locally who has gone through transplant, so that was invaluable to me.” -Irene

After navigating her blood stem cell transplant, Irene was offered resources through NMDP’s PACES program to help her navigate post-transplant life. Thankfully, through generous support of partners like Incyte, Irene and so many others are able to connect with licensed social workers and transplant peers to support in recovery and healing.
