Today, these twins turn one. 💛

But Fiona and Phoebe had an uncertain start in life. Carrie Zirbes’ pregnancy with her twins was rare, high risk, and filled with unknowns. Mono–mono twins meant the babies shared the same placenta and amniotic sac.

Carrie and her babies needed careful monitoring, coordinated care to give them the best chance at survival. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists were there every step of the way.

Now, as the family celebrates a new milestone, they are grateful for the extraordinary care and support they received.

Help us wish them happy birthday and read their full story in the comments.

$2.3 million raised for children’s health. This weekend, WineFest - A Toast to Children's Health brought together incredible food, world-class wine, and a community with a shared purpose: supporting kids and families at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital.

To every donor, sponsor, volunteer, and guest: thank you for showing up for kids and families across Minnesota and beyond.

During her first C-section, Lissa Dahlheimer watched her baby be taken across the room before she could hold her. This time was different.

With a maternal-assisted C-section, Lissa helped lift her son into the world — and brought him straight to her chest.

“Being able to see and touch my baby right away was really healing,” she said.

Even in the operating room, birth should feel personal. Our Birthplace teams here to help it feel that way. Find out more in the comments.

Some patients call her "Dr. Sapna". Others call her "Dr. P". Whatever they choose, pediatrician Sapna Prabhakaran is there to guide families through every moment -- big and small -- while their kids grow.

For many families, their pediatrician is the first call. From the first fever to tummy aches, wellness check-ups to mental health and everything in between.

"Trust is everything,” she says.

As the first pediatrician at our Apple Valley clinic, she’s helping bring care closer to home.

Oliver Gilpin, now 11, couldn’t eat without pain. Severe acid reflux made everyday moments hard.

It felt like Oliver and his family tried everything to treat it. Nothing worked.

Then, pediatric gastroenterologist Aayush Gabrani, MD, partnered with Oliver to try something never done before on a child before. An endoscopic procedure typically performed for adults – until Oliver.

Now, he’s pain-free. Eating, sleeping, and getting back to being a kid again.

This is how breakthroughs happen: a care team who doesn’t give up and a young patient brave enough to try something new.

Across our health system, over 9,600 nurses deliver care that shapes better outcomes — including the youngest patients we serve.

These aren’t just system achievements. They are the result of daily decisions to lead with compassion, expertise, and a commitment to care.

Nurse Amy Johnson dedicated her 50-year career to caring for children, created moments of comfort, and walking alongside families through every step of their journey.

The strongest superheroes we know aren’t from comic books. 🦸‍♀️

They are the patients who show up with courage, the families who stand beside them, and the care teams who walk with them through every step of their journey.

Superhero Day brought a little extra joy to our hospitals—with costumes, celebrations, and themed giveaways. Today celebrates the resilience we are honored to witness every single day.

All this joy was made possible by our partners including Scheels, Cornerstone Parking Group, Inc, Anagram, Innovize, Make-A-Wish Minnesota, Marvel Sewer Drain and Plumbing.
