I'm not anti-peptide. I'm anti-desperation.

And right now people are taking risks they would never make in any other area of their lives.

The number of people buying peptide powders online has skyrocketed since January. People are mixing them at home. Stacking 5 different research chemicals. Calculating doses with ChatGPT. Then injecting substances they can't verify.

I follow a woman who accidentally injected herself 5x the intended dose of a GLP-1 because she misunderstood the instructions. Instead of calling a doctor, she asked her followers what to do.

What are we doing.

Untested peptides are being sold everywhere. Gyms. Nail salons. Group chats. Social media. Friends of friends. MLMs and affiliate links.

Since March, large quantities of gray-market peptides imported from China have been found to contain little to none of the ingredients advertised. Everything has gone underground — crypto-only payments, no recourse if you get fake product or have a life-threatening reaction.

Testing has uncovered products containing only water. The wrong peptide. Dangerous contaminants.

And people really don't care. 🤷‍♀️

Some people genuinely need these medications and feel forced to seek more affordable options. I get that. But let's be honest — a lot of this isn't about medical necessity. It's about optimizing appearance.

I'm all for intelligent optimization. I don't understand playing Russian roulette with your health to get there.

At what point did "someone on the internet said it's from a super reputable pharmacy" become good enough?

Maybe before injecting anything, ask yourself:

How do I actually know what's in this vial?
What studies exist on stacking all the peptides I'm taking together?
Before taking a growth-stimulating peptide, what are my risks for cancer or tumor growth?
What is the medical background of the person selling, dosing, and overseeing my care?
Do I actually need a peptide or do I need to overhaul my habits?

Optimizing your health is one thing. Injecting discounted mystery chemicals from an underground supply chain off a TikTok link is another.
