As comes to a close, we're focusing on falls — the leading cause of preventable death in Montana.
Falls can happen at any age, but taking steps towards prevention creates a safer environment for people of all ages.

💙Keep walkways clear and well-lit.
💙Use handrails, grab bars, and non-slip mats where needed.
💙Wear shoes with good traction, especially in winter conditions.
💙Protect children from falls by installing approved window guards and stops, stairgates, and furniture anchors. Window screens alone will not prevent accidental falls.
💙Always supervise young children on playgrounds and high areas such as decks, porches, and balconies.
💙Talk with your healthcare provider about vision, balance, and medication-related fall risks.

Creating safer spaces today can help prevent injuries tomorrow.

This Juneteenth, we commemorate the end of slavery in the United States and honor the ongoing pursuit of freedom, justice, and equity for Black Americans.

At Community Health Alliance, we believe health and safety are fundamental human rights. We recognize the historic and ongoing inequities that continue to impact access to care and health outcomes in Black communities.

As we reflect on this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering lifelong health and safety for all who call Western Montana home—because healthy communities are built on equity, inclusion, and opportunity for everyone.

June is ! This week, we're highlighting tips to avoid motor vehicle crashes, the second leading cause of preventable death in Montana.
Every trip is an opportunity to make safe choices:

🚗 Buckle every passenger, every ride.
🚗 Put phones away and eliminate distractions, and talk to teens about the dangers of distracted driving.
🚗 Slow down and adjust for weather, road conditions, and wildlife.
🚗 Always drive sober and speak up when you feel unsafe with a driver.

Safe driving habits help protect you, your loved ones, and everyone on Montana's roads.

☀️Slip on protective clothing
☀️Slop on sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
☀️Slap on a wide-brimmed hat
☀️Wrap on sunglasses that block UV rays
These four simple steps can help protect your skin and reduce your risk of skin cancer while you enjoy the game.

This , we're focusing on steps you can take to avoid preventable deaths. Today, we're focused on making substance-smart decisions to prevent poisoning —the third leading cause of preventable death in Big Sky Country.

Simple actions can reduce poisoning risk:

💊Store medications, vitamins, and household chemicals out of reach of children and teens.
🧴 Keep products in their original containers and follow label directions. Avoid mixing cleaning products, especially ammonia and bleach.
⚠️Install and maintain carbon monoxide detectors.
🌿Learn about poisonous plants, mushrooms, and wildlife in your area, and always supervise young children outdoors.

If you suspect a poisoning emergency, call the Montana Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

☀️⚾ Join us June 14 as we partner with the PaddleHeads to celebrate the launch of free sunscreen dispensers at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field!

This new partnership helps make sun protection more accessible while encouraging healthy habits that can reduce the risk of skin cancer. Attendees can learn about sun safety and skin cancer prevention, enjoy family-friendly activities, and pick up free sun safety resources during the game.

This event also marks the 25th anniversary of CHA's Be Sun Smart program, supported by the Steven Robinson Memorial Endowment. Steven Robinson was just 35 years old when he lost his life to melanoma. Established by his family in his memory, the endowment supports community education and awareness efforts to prevent skin cancer and encourage early detection.
