I find signs of pain are highly unrecognized by many, especially when it comes to behaviors under saddle. Many signs could be either a medical or saddle fit issue, or both. Take a listen, then go home and observe your horse. Video your rides and watch them. Reach out with questions.

On Friday I attended the North Dakota veterinary technician association continuing education conference, but this time as a speaker and vendor!

This was my first speaking engagement that wasn’t hands on with animals. I spoke about saddle fit and even though it was outside my comfort zone, I still love talking about horses.

Today is world rabies day. I believe every animal’s health status and risk vs benefit should be considered. I’ve worked in integrative vet med. Rabies is almost always a must. It should not be lumped into consideration as the same as the other vaccines. It’s not the same, rabies is fatal for the animals and for you. For the other vaccines, I considered titers but with recent increased risk/cases in my area, I decided to vaccinate all at once. Due to my mare’s vaccination and health history, and this year’s possible uveitis flare, I will likely change when vaccines are given in the future. Rabies is a must, especially because we live very rural area and I trap raccoons and skunks regularly= increased risk. For the others I will consider separating vaccines or checking titers. As always, I will continue to support her body, immune system, and gut health, as naturally as possible through nutrition and other routine wellness practices. If you have not tried BEMER before you ride, you need to!
It doesn’t make the horse too relaxed or tired. It makes them ready to work and perform. It’s a suppleness I could FEEL. It’s difficult to describe but the body felt like it moved so smooth and fluidly.
