This National Disability Employment Awareness Month AchieveAbilities is happy to celebrate Melanie and Omnia Salon in Sun Prairie!

Melanie has worked at Omnia Salon doing custodial work for 2 years! She helps keep the salon spotless, she sweeps, does the laundry, dusts, cleans the windows, and so much more!

Thank you to Omnia Salon, they are a wonderful and inclusive employer who understands and accommodates Melanie’s need for occasional breaks and allows her to work at her own pace confident in her ability to complete all of her assigned tasks.

Thank you Omnia Salon, and keep up the great work Melanie!

🔍 Myth-Busting Friday

MYTH: The best employees are the ones who work continuously without interruptions or accommodations.

FACT: Great employees come in many forms. People with disabilities, caregivers, people managing health conditions, and others may need accommodations, flexible schedules, or time away from work. That doesn't make them less productive or less valuable.

Too often, workplaces are built around the idea of an "ideal worker" who can provide uninterrupted output from hire to retirement. The reality is that everyone's life includes changes, challenges, and transitions.

✅ Success should be measured by skills, contributions, and outcomes, not by constant presence.

When workplaces embrace flexibility and inclusion, everyone benefits

Nancy Russell (Mom) shared this with us, "Henry is loving, thriving, and benefitting tremendously at his jobs, Piggly Wiggly and Strictly Discs, with the support of his AchieveAbilities coaches. He is very proud of his jobs and performing really well. Additionally, Henry spends valuable time learning from his coaches MJ and Dylan each week through day services in our local Cambridge community and in Madison." Thank you Nancy for sending this us, thank you to Henry's team and especially his amazing coaches for helping this to be an AchieveAbilities success story!

Thankful to see disability employment in action!

People with disabilities have always been part of America's workforce. But in 2025, just 22.8% were employed. That gap isn't about talent. It's about barriers, and many of them are ones we can remove together ~ Stay tuned for more information on how you can make a difference.
