The Benefits of Hospice Care

Hospice isn’t about giving up. It’s about living as fully and comfortably as possible.

Comfort and Pain Management – Helping patients manage pain and other symptoms.

Support for the Whole Family – Providing emotional and spiritual support for patients and loved ones.

Care Where You Call Home – Bringing compassionate care to patients wherever they call home, including assisted living and personal care facilities.

A Team You Can Count On – Nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and other team members working together to meet individual needs.

Support for Caregivers – Offering education, guidance, and respite support when eligible.

More Meaningful Moments – Helping families spend less time worrying about care and more time making memories.

Hospice care is about dignity, comfort, compassion, and making every moment count.

At Amedisys Hospice, we’re here to help patients and families navigate one of life’s most meaningful journeys with comfort, support and heart.

On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we're highlighting the important role hospice and palliative care play in helping patients and families navigate serious illness.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort, quality of life and support, helping patients receive care that aligns with their goals and wishes. Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and alongside treatment. Hospice care is typically chosen when treatment is no longer working or a patient decides to stop curative treatment for a terminal illness, shifting the focus to comfort, quality of life and support for both the patient and their loved ones.

Tips for Living a Good Life

From your friends at Amedisys Hospice 💚

A good life isn’t measured by how much money we make, how big our house is, or how many things we own. It’s measured by the love we give, the memories we create, and the lives we touch along the way.

Here are 10 gentle reminders for living a life filled with meaning:

1. Love your people fiercely. Never miss an opportunity to tell someone how much they mean to you.

2. Make time for the little things. Enjoy your morning coffee, a beautiful sunset, a favorite song, or a conversation with someone you love.

3. Make the phone call. Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while. You never know how much they may need to hear your voice.

4. Forgive when you can. Let go of the things that steal your peace, and don’t waste precious time holding onto anger.

5. Be kind, even when it’s hard. A small act of kindness can leave a lasting impression on someone’s heart.

6. Make memories, not just plans. Take the pictures, laugh until you cry, go on the adventure, and spend time with the people who matter most.

7. Practice gratitude. Even on difficult days, look for one small thing worth appreciating.

8. Be present. Put down your phone, look someone in the eyes, and truly listen. Your presence can mean more than you realize.

9. Take care of yourself, too. Rest when you need it, ask for help, and give yourself the same compassion you offer others.

10. Leave love behind. The greatest legacy isn’t what you leave behind in a bank account, but what you leave behind in people’s hearts.

At Amedisys Hospice, we are reminded every day that life is precious, time is a gift, and the smallest moments often become our most treasured memories.

You don’t have to live a perfect life to live a beautiful one. You just have to fill it with love, kindness, connection, and moments that matter.

Today, our social worker, Caitlyn and I got to host a “Root b**r Float Social” at one of our facilities. Neither one of us thought to take pictures of our delicious floats… because we were too busy sucking up the energy in the room!

It was so nice to hear everyone reminisce about their love of root b**r floats and talk about what their favorite things are about fall!

We heard about piles of leaves that they loved to jump in!

One woman would make “houses” out of the leaves… kind of like an igloo!

One told us how she used to drive 3 hours every week to see her grandchildren in Chagrin Falls, Ohio! She told us that if we ever got the chance to go… we need to stop at the “Popcorn Shop”!

Has anyone ever been to Popcorn Shop? Is it really as amazing as she says it is???

Being a caregiver is an incredible act of love…but it can also be incredibly hard.

The long days. The sleepless nights. The worry, exhaustion, and emotional weight of watching someone you love decline. Sometimes caregivers give so much of themselves that they forget they need care, too.

If you’re a caregiver, please remember: you don’t have to do this alone. Asking for help isn’t weakness…it’s strength.

At Amedisys Hospice, we’re here to support not only the patient, but the person standing beside them.

Please share these “tips”… sometimes people don’t know what to do to help support caregivers 🥰

We had a patient who had lost her babydoll 😭 Our Social Worker Caitlyn was on the hunt!
We were blessed with this little one from someone in the community for her and I can’t help but think we all may be related!
Is anyone else seeing a resemblance?

A little Sunday tip from us to you!

Slow down today. Put your phone down, take a deep breath, and spend a little extra time with the people you love.

You don’t have to accomplish everything today. Sometimes, simply being present is enough.

This honor reflects the dedication, compassion, and commitment of the people who care for our patients and families every day…from nurses and aides to social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and the team members working behind the scenes to ensure no one feels alone.

Hospice and home health are more than services. They are opportunities to walk alongside people during life’s most vulnerable moments and remind them that they matter, are heard, and are cared for.

To our Amedisys family: We see you, appreciate you, and are proud to stand beside you. This recognition celebrates the difference we make when we care for people with our whole hearts.

Sometimes, comfort comes in the smallest of ways.

For some of our hospice patients, holding a baby doll can bring a sense of peace, purpose, and tenderness during a very difficult season of life.

A soft little face to hold.
Tiny fingers to wrap their hands around.
Someone to cuddle, talk to, care for, and love.

For patients who have spent a lifetime caring for others, that familiar feeling of nurturing can be incredibly meaningful. A baby doll can bring back memories of raising children, holding grandchildren, or simply provide companionship when words are no longer easy.

Hospice is about so much more than managing symptoms. It’s about seeing the person behind the illness and finding the little things that bring comfort, dignity, and joy.

Sometimes, that comfort looks like a baby in their arms.

Because every moment matters. Every person matters. And even the smallest gesture can create a beautiful moment of peace.
