ALERT: Health officials in Gwinnett County are urging residents to use caution after a bat found dead in a Loganville backyard on Oct. 6 tested positive for rabies. The case comes about a month after another rabid bat was found inside a Snellville home. Officials remind residents that rabies is present in Georgia wildlife year-round and urge them to keep pets’ vaccinations up to date and avoid animals behaving unusually. Unvaccinated dogs and cats exposed to a rabid animal may require a four-month quarantine and vaccination before release.

Rabies attacks the central nervous system and is nearly always fatal once symptoms develop, according to the CDC. Anyone bitten or scratched by a stray animal or one suspected of having rabies should seek medical care immediately and contact GNR Public Health.

🐾 Happy Adopted Dog Day! 🐾

While this may be an unofficial pet holiday, we think our adopted pups deserve every excuse to be celebrated! ❤️

We know so many members of our clinic family have beloved dogs who came from shelters, rescues, or simply found their way into exactly the home they were meant to have. 🏡🐶

We’d love to fill our Facebook feed with your adopted dogs!

📸 Drop a photo of your rescue or shelter pup in the comments and tell us a little about them! Where did you adopt them? How long have they been part of your family? What makes them special?

Whether they’ve been home for 10 days or 10 years, today is a great day to celebrate the dogs who got their second chance—and the families who gave it to them. 💙🐾

Show us those adopted pups! 👇🐕❤️

Our clinic crew took a walk on the wild side! 🦒🦓🐘💚

We had such a fun time visiting the Georgia Safari Conservation Park together! It’s always special getting to spend time with animals, but getting to experience some slightly bigger (and more exotic!) patients than we’re used to made for an unforgettable day. 🐾

We’re so grateful for opportunities like this to step away from the clinic, spend time together as a team, and appreciate the incredible animals we share this world with.

A huge thank you to the Georgia Safari Conservation Park for an amazing experience! 🌿🦒
