A new school year can be exciting, but for some children and teens, returning to school may also bring stress, anxiety, behavioral changes, or emotional challenges.
Parents and caregivers may notice:
๐Ÿ”น Increased anxiety or fear about going to school
๐Ÿ”น Trouble sleeping or changes in appetite
๐Ÿ”น Irritability, anger, or frequent emotional outbursts
๐Ÿ”น Difficulty concentrating or completing schoolwork
๐Ÿ”น Withdrawal from family or friends
๐Ÿ”น Bullying or difficulty making friends
๐Ÿ”น Low self-esteem or feeling overwhelmed
๐Ÿ”น Refusing to attend school or frequent complaints of headaches or stomachaches
๐Ÿ”น Difficulty adjusting to new teachers, classmates, expectations, or routines

Sometimes the behavior you see is only the symptom. Taking time to understand what is happening underneath can make a major difference.

Our team is here to help youth and families address emotional and behavioral challenges, strengthen coping skills, and work toward greater success at home, at school, and in the community. Early support can make a difference. Donโ€™t wait until a small concern becomes a bigger challenge.

Stand Up to Stigmaโ€”Letโ€™s Talk About Mental Health

Mental health is an important part of our overall well-being. No one should feel ashamed or afraid to ask for support. By speaking openly, listening without judgment, and showing compassion, we can help end the stigma surrounding mental health.

It is okay to have difficult days. It is okay to ask for help. You are not alone.

Midweek Mental Health Check-In: How Are You Really Feeling?

It is timely, engaging, and encourages followers to pause and assess their emotional well-being.

Post caption:

It is the middle of the weekโ€”take a moment to check in with yourself.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, unmotivated, or emotionally drained? Your feelings matter, and you do not have to manage everything alone.

Today, try one small step toward better mental wellness: take a break, talk to someone you trust, spend time outside, write down your thoughts, or ask for support.

At People United Behavioral Health, we are committed to helping individuals and families build healthier, more balanced lives.

Your mental health deserves attentionโ€”not just during a crisis, but every day.

Louisiana Department of Health Update

On July 15, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agricultureโ€™s Food and Nutrition Service approved a temporary waiver allowing all Louisiana SNAP participants to purchase hot or prepared foods with their SNAP benefits through August 13, 2026, following Tropical Storm Arthur.

Eligible items may include rotisserie chicken, hot prepared soups and sandwiches, and hot meals or hot food bars from SNAP-authorized retailers.

Please note: Retailers may need 24โ€“36 hours to update their checkout systems, and not every store may be ready at the same time. SNAP participants are encouraged to check with their local retailer before shopping.
