Roya Javid, MD, MHS
A native of San Jose, California, Doctor Roya Javid began her educational journey at University of California, Berkeley where she graduated with honors in Inte

grative Biology. She then went on to pursue her Master of Health Science degree at the prestigious John Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing her masters program, she received her Medical Doctorate at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. At the conclusion of her formal education, Doctor Javid completed an internal medicine internship at the Washington Hospital Center. After this her husband, serving as a physician in the United States Navy, was deployed to Okinawa, Japan. While there, Doctor Javid had the rare opportunity to mentor and teach English to Japanese college and graduate students and to volunteer in the emergency room of the U.S Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. A year later, Doctor Javid returned to the states to complete her dermatology residency at the Advanced Dermatology Institute in San Diego. She then moved to the east coast and worked in private practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Wheeling, West Virginia.

Patient safety has always come before trends, brands, or profits.

I’ve always believed that cosmetic treatments should be both effective and safe. When concerns began to emerge about Juvéderm, I made the decision to stop using it in my practice.

Medicine is constantly evolving. Good physicians evolve with it.

That doesn’t mean dermal fillers are inherently unsafe. It means we have a responsibility to continually evaluate new evidence, have honest conversations about risks and benefits, and make decisions that put our patients first.

Trust is built by doing what’s right—even when it’s not the easiest choice.

Hair loss became personal for me.

As a dermatologist, I’ve treated hair loss for years. But it’s very different when you’re the one noticing more hair in the shower, less volume in your ponytail, and seeing your scalp peek through in places it never did before.

Like many women in midlife, I learned that hair loss is rarely caused by just one thing. Hormones, stress, genetics, nutrition, aging, and overall health can all play a role.

My journey has reminded me that asking for help isn’t vanity—it’s self-care. I’ve explored treatments, adjusted my routines, and learned to approach my hair with patience rather than panic.
