ervices for individuals, businesses and government agencies. The agency features early intervention and speech therapy programs for individuals with developmental delays, articulation disorders, motor dysfunction and cognitive impairments. It provides assistance with improvement of reading, writing and math skills. Easter Seals Central Alabama offers a range of medical equipment, including portable wheelchair ramps, patient lifts, sensory aids crutches and walkers.

☀️ School may be out, but learning, growth, and connection don't stop! 💙🧩

For many of our autism families, summer can bring big changes in routines, schedules, and structure. While that can feel exciting, it can also be overwhelming for our kiddos (and us parents too!).

A few gentle reminders for this summer:
✨ Keep some routines in place
✨ Build in sensory breaks
✨ Follow your child’s interests
✨ Focus on progress, not perfection
✨ Celebrate every small win

Most importantly — give yourself grace, parents. Summer does not have to look picture-perfect to be meaningful. Some of the sweetest growth happens in the little everyday moments. 💙

These simple tips and activities can improve the way kids hold their pencils! ✏️ via The Inspired Treehouse
✍️ Draw, write, or color in prone position
✍️ Use shortened writing utensils like library or gold pencils
✍️ Break crayons into smaller pieces and use for coloring
✍️ Draw, write, or paint on a vertical surface
✍️ Work on core strength! Remember, proximal stability is the foundation for distal mobility.
✍️ Use colored tape to mark where kids should grasp their pencil
✍️ Try tucking a small object like a bead into the child’s 4th and 5th fingers while they grasp a pencil. This will promote the use of the “tripod fingers”.
