11 days until the BCS Classic. That’s it!!

The training is done. The strength is there. The engine has been built.

Now it’s time to make sure your body has everything it needs to perform when the lights come on Friday Night.

These next two weeks aren’t about dieting, “eating clean,” or trying to lose those last few pounds.
They’re about showing up fueled, recovered, and ready to compete.

Here’s your game plan from Coach Alex:

Eat enough.
Your body can’t perform on empty. Give it the calories it needs to recover from training and stock the tank for competition.

Don’t fear carbs—embrace them. Use them effectively.
Carbs are your body’s preferred fuel source for high-intensity workouts. Every meal is another opportunity to top off the tank. Rice, potatoes, oats, fruit, pasta—these are your friends. Keep protein high.
Protein helps repair the work you’re putting in. Aim for roughly 0.7-1.0 grams per pound of goal body weight each day.

Hydrate like it’s part of your training plan
Because it is. Drink water consistently every day, and don’t forget electrolytes if you’re training hard or spending time in the Texas heat.

Protect your sleep.
The best recovery tool you have is free. Stop doomscrolling, turn off the late night TV binge, get some rest.

Competition Day

This isn’t the day to “wing it.”

Eat a familiar meal 2-4 hours before your first event, focusing on carbohydrates with a little protein.
Between events, keep easy-to-digest fuel on hand:
• Bananas/Apples/Grapes
• Applesauce pouches
• Rice cakes
• Granola bars
• Gatorade
• Dried fruit
• Nerds clusters 😜

Keep sipping water throughout the day and replace electrolytes as needed. After your final event, get some carbs and protein in to start the recovery process.

One last thing...
Do not experiment this week.

No new pre-workout.
No new supplements.
No “magic” energy drink your buddy swears by.
No random foods you’ve never eaten before.

If it hasn’t been part of your training, it doesn’t belong on competition day. Your body will do best on what it’s used to.
Trust the work you’ve put in. Trust the preparation. Trust the process. Now let’s have some fun!

Welcome to our Summer Supplement Series ☀️

Our nutrition Coach Alex is here to help give you the education you need to navigate supplements—so you can spend less time guessing and more time knowing what’s actually worth your time and money.

First up - supplements as a whole:

Supplements can be helpful—but they’re not magic.

A lot of people jump straight to powders, pills, and expensive stacks hoping for better performance, recovery, or body composition while skipping the basics that actually move the needle.

Before worrying about supplements, ask yourself:

Am I eating enough protein?
Am I eating enough overall food to support my goals?
Am I getting fruits and vegetables consistently?
Am I hydrating properly?
Am I sleeping enough to recover?

Supplements should fill gaps—not replace foundational habits.

Some supplements can be useful depending on your goals, lifestyle, and nutrition habits, but more isn’t always better.

A supplement won’t transform your fitness—but consistent daily habits and a strong foundation will.

Over the next few weeks, Coach Alex will be breaking down popular supplements, who they may help, who they may not, and whether they’re actually worth your time and money.
