Today, our Executive Director, Paula Cheatwood, and our Community Health Worker, Leroy Davis, met with the teachers and staff at South Girard School to discuss youth va**ng and how we can work together to support our young people!

Educators play an important role in recognizing concerns, starting conversations, and connecting students with help. By partnering with The Bridge Center for Health Education, schools can bring prevention education, resources, and support to students, including those struggling to quit.

Addressing va**ng takes more than consequences. It takes understanding, trusted adults, and a community working together.

Thank you, South Girard, for welcoming us and for your commitment to your students. We’re excited to continue working together to help young people make healthier choices!

Today, The Bridge Center was proud to be part of the Men’s Wellness & Resource Event in Eufaula, AL!

We had the opportunity to connect with community members, share valuable health education resources, build relationships, and help connect individuals with services that support healthier lives.

Events like this remind us that health is more than a checkup — it’s education, access, community, and connection.

A special thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and to all of the organizations and healthcare providers working together to strengthen our community!

We are so proud of our 𝘏𝘠𝘗𝘌 𝘗𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘈𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘴, 𝗠𝗰𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗶𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴, who spent today sharing 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 with students at South Girard School and Central Freshman Academy!

McKenzie and Amari did an incredible job connecting with students, talking about the real risks of va**ng, and helping their peers understand how ni****ne can affect the brain, decision-making, and overall health.

There is something powerful about young people using their voices to reach other young people. We love seeing our Peer Ambassadors step up, lead, educate, and make a difference in their schools and communities.

We also want to give a special thank you to the staff at South Girard School and Central Freshman Academy for helping make today’s presentations such a success. We truly appreciate your support, coordination, and commitment to providing students with important health education.

We’re excited to be part of the 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, hosted by the Phenix City Housing Authority Resident Services Department!

The Bridge Center for Health Education will be presenting “𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘔𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘕𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦,” a conversation about the connection between va**ng, ni****ne, stress, and mental health. We’ll explore why ni****ne can feel like it relieves stress, how dependence can actually contribute to the stress cycle, and why understanding this connection matters.
