Let me introduce you to myself.
My name is Jerry Pipkins, and tattooing has been a part of my life since around 1995. That was the year I did my first tattoo, and I did it on myself. I didn’t know back then where this road would take me, but I knew there was something about tattooing that had a hold on me.
I’ve been tattooing professionally since around 2006, and it has been one hell of a ride. Over the years, I’ve owned a few shops, worked in many others, sold some, and lost one along the way to a hurricane. This career has taken me through good times, hard times, fresh starts, and lessons I couldn’t have learned any other way.
Tattooing has changed a lot since I first picked up a machine, and so have I. I’ve watched the industry grow, shift, and reinvent itself more than a few times. I've won many awards, been in quite a few tattoo magazines and sponsored by some great products and businesses. Through all of it, I’ve kept learning, kept adapting, and kept showing up.
These days, I enjoy realism, portraits, movie-inspired tattoos, and custom pieces that mean something to the people wearing them. Every tattoo is a little bit of trust. Someone sits down, tells you what they want, and lets you leave a piece of your craft on them for life. That never gets old to me. I've slowed down the past four years and now I have my second wind.
I’m grateful for every person who has sat in my chair over the years. Every client, every shop, every setback, and every new beginning has been part of the story. It’s been a hell of a ride, and I’m not done yet. I opened this shop (Dark Lotus Tattoo) out of sheer chance but I am here to do my absolute best to make it one of the best around. I hope to see you all on this journey.
