A good Thursday thought for you.
Gratitude is not a feeling you wait to have before you practice it.
That took a long time to understand. And honestly, it changed everything. 🌿
For years, gratitude felt like something other people had. People whose lives were going well, whose fog had lifted, whose circumstances made thankfulness feel natural. Mine didn't feel like that. And every time someone told me to focus on the positive, something in me got a little more resistant.
Then a friend gave me a journal with one simple instruction. Not to be happy. Not to perform thankfulness. Just to find one thing, every day, that was genuinely real and good. One concrete thing. No matter how small.
That instruction removed the pressure entirely. Gratitude wasn't asking me to feel something I didn't. It was asking me to look.
And looking, it turns out, is something anyone can do. Even on the hard days. Even inside the fog. 💛
And slowly, something began to shift. ✨
That whole season, and what came out of it, is something I wrote about honestly in The Selah Journey. If you're in a similar place right now, it might be worth reading together. You can find it here:
