🙏 Prayer Request for Baby Bear Mia 💓

One of our Mama Bear Care Mentor Moms, Nyssa, just reached out with an urgent prayer request for a precious mama she is walking alongside.

Baby Mia, who has Trisomy 18, was born in mid-April and is undergoing surgery today to receive both a G-tube and a tracheostomy. These procedures are an important step toward bringing her home. 💕

Nyssa shared this request from Mia's mom:

"Say lots of prayers! Pray that her surgery and recovery go well, and that God gives my husband and me strength as we begin to navigate Mia's life with a trach."

Will you join us in praying?

✧ That Mia's surgery goes smoothly and without complications.
✧For healing and a steady recovery.
✧For God's strength, peace, and wisdom to surround her parents as they learn to care for Mia's trach.
✧That this surgery brings them one step closer to finally taking their precious girl home.

Thank you for lifting this sweet family before our Lord today. 💟✝️

"The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth." — Psalm 145:18

A Diagnosis Story: Elodie, Mama Bear to Charlie 💜
_______
"Some stories begin on the day a child is born. Charlie’s story began long before that. It began with a dream - the dream of becoming a mother. A dream filled with hope, but also with disappointment, tears, and hardships that sometimes made me wonder if that happiness would ever come.

Then, one day, Charlie came into our lives. From that moment on, she was deeply loved. Every passing week brought new hope. We imagined her face, her nursery, her first smile, our walks together, the cuddles… an entire future was taking shape.

But sometimes, life writes chapters that no parent should ever have to live. Instead of preparing to bring her home, we had to prepare to say goodbye. Charlie was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 and a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).

The day Charlie was born was both the most beautiful and the most heartbreaking day of our lives. On that day, we truly felt like her mother and her father, and yet we had to leave the hospital without her. There are no words big enough to describe the emptiness of leaving your baby behind.

The world keeps turning - people go back to work, the seasons change, the sun rises again - but for parents who lose a child, time seems to stand still. The weeks that followed were filled with pain. My body had to recover from childbirth while my heart struggled to survive an absence that felt impossible to accept.

Little by little, I realized that you never truly “turn the page.” You simply learn to write the next chapters while one page remains forever open.

Today, Charlie is everywhere. She is in the flowers I plant, in the memorial garden I am creating in her honor, in the stars I look up at each night, and in every beat of my heart. She is the reason I see the world differently. She taught me that love does not end with death, it simply changes its form.

I keep moving forward. Some days are lighter than others. Slowly, I am finding pieces of myself again. I am learning to love the body that carried her. I am learning to smile without guilt. I am learning that continuing to live does not mean leaving her behind, because you never leave behind a child you love.

Charlie will never grow up here on earth, but she will continue to grow through our stories, our memories, everything she taught us, and all the love she continues to inspire. She spent only a moment in our arms, but she will spend a lifetime in our hearts.

A prenatal diagnosis changed the course of Charlie's story, but it never changed her value.

Today, Mama Bear Elodie shares her journey of loving her daughter through a diagnosis of Trisomy 18 and congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), carrying her with hope, and cherishing every moment they were given together because her life wasn't measured by time - it was measured by love. 💜

What does a miracle look like?

When Mandy was told her daughter, Serenity Hope, had Trisomy 13, she was encouraged to terminate because her diagnosis was considered "incompatible with life."

Instead, Serenity was given every chance at life.

She was born alive. She was deeply loved. She fought bravely. And though her time on earth was only four months, her life touched countless hearts and changed her family forever.

Sometimes a miracle isn't the outcome we hoped for.

Sometimes a miracle is the gift of getting to know and love on your child.

💜 Today we're resharing Serenity Hope's story; a beautiful reminder that every life has value, purpose, and meaning.
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." — Psalm 139:14

“That’s priceless.”

One mama used those words to describe what it was like to spend a weekend surrounded by women who truly understood the loss of a child.

Our Bereaved Mama Bear Retreat created a space for grieving mothers to share their stories, remember their babies, and find connection with others walking a similar road.

We would love to offer more retreats in the future.

It costs approximately $1,000 to sponsor one mother to attend.

If you’d like to help make that possible, please consider becoming a monthly supporter of Mama Bear Care. Thank you.

A Diagnosis Story: Jessica, Mama Bear to Poeme

"On a beautiful August morning, I sat on the edge of my bed around 8:00 a.m. and opened an email that would change my life forever.

I was 11 weeks pregnant with my ninth child, seventh daughter, and absolutely over the moon to be having another baby. I casually opened the results of my NIPT testing.

Then I read the words:

Trisomy 18 — 83.6% positive.

Horror gripped my heart.

I knew very little about Trisomy 18. I just knew it wasn't good. As I began to learn more, I discovered there were very few children with this diagnosis who were outliving their mothers.

From the moment I read those words, a deep grief settled over me—and honestly, it hasn't left.

But alongside that grief came something else: supernatural strength and supernatural peace.

I prayed, "Lord, not my will, but Yours be done."

Over the next ten months, grief, strength, and peace walked hand in hand. I faced things I never imagined I could endure, and through it all, God was faithful.

His strength carried me when I didn't think I could go on. His peace and favor went before me and prepared the way.

And now I can say with confidence:

Surely, He does all things well.

My daughter lived 101 precious days.

She was a gift beyond measure.

His most excellent Poeme."

A prenatal diagnosis can turn a joyful pregnancy into a season of fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak in a matter of moments.

At Mama Bear Care, we understand that journey because many of us have walked it ourselves. Through peer mentorship, support groups, educational resources, care packages, and Christ-centered encouragement, we come alongside families facing life-limiting and complex prenatal diagnoses.

If you have recently received a difficult diagnosis and don't know where to turn, you do not have to walk this road alone.

Fierce Love. Tender Care. 💜 mamabearcare.org

When a baby receives a serious diagnosis, parents are often overwhelmed with information, unfamiliar medical terms, and difficult decisions.

One term that is frequently misunderstood is palliative care.

Many people confuse palliative care with hospice care or comfort care alone. In reality, palliative care can begin at diagnosis and can be provided alongside medical treatments and interventions.

We created this simple guide to help explain what palliative care is and how it can help.

“It was something we never heard about—Triplody. Instantly we were devastated, knowing this was a fatal diagnosis. We prayed harder than ever before and stuck to our plan of loving her until God called her home to be with him. We developed a game plan to monitor her via ultrasounds until she passed, because I wanted to see her every chance I could! For 31 beautiful weeks I got to feel her sweet movements, talk to her, and safely keep her wrapped in my love nestled in my womb. My husband, son, and I prayed for her, talked about her, and loved her dearly. On June 12, 2025, I was able to bring her earthside as she was born sleeping.”

06/12/2026

Recently, the world has been talking about a diagnosis.

But we want to talk about the babies.

The babies with Down syndrome (Trisomy 21).

The babies with Edwards syndrome (Trisomy 18).

The babies with Patau syndrome (Trisomy 13).

The babies with spina bifida.

The babies with other complex medical conditions.

Every single one of them has intrinsic value as a human being made in the image of God.

At Mama Bear Care, we believe every baby's life is precious - diagnosis or no diagnosis.

And not because life will be easy or because the outcome is certain.

We believe this because every child is a human being who has immeasurable worth in the sight of God our Heavenly Father.

Mama Bear Care exists to support mamas as they carry to term and honor the lives of their baby bears with difficult diagnoses, however long or short.

This week, we have been proud to watch thousands of voices rise up to defend the dignity of children with disabilities and life-limiting conditions.

May we never stop speaking up for the babies who cannot speak for themselves.

💜 Every baby's life matters.

Packing a Mama Bear Care Love Box 💜

When a mother loses her baby, the world often keeps moving while her heart continues breaking.

That's why we send out Love Boxes.

No box could ever take away the pain of such a loss. But it can remind a grieving mama of some things she desperately needs to hear:

✧her baby's life mattered
✧her baby is being remembered by others
✧she is not alone in her grief

Each Love Box is carefully packed with a Christ-centered devotional book, a bereaved mother's memoir, and remembrance resources to help a grieving mother navigate the difficult days ahead.

More than that, each Love Box is a tangible reminder of God's promises:

*"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."*
— Psalm 34:18

*"You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?"*
— Psalm 56:8

Packing and sending Love Boxes is one of the many ways Mama Bear Care seeks to provide fierce love and tender care to our Mama Bears as they navigate the stormy waters of fresh grief. 💜
____

We are deeply grateful to our faithful supporters who make it possible for us to send these Love Boxes free of charge to bereaved mothers across the country.

As you watch us pack this box, would you please join us in praying for the mama who will receive it? 💕
